Hi I'm Matt

I've been called to serve in California. I grew up in the Middle-East. I'm originally from Australia. I'm a Mormon

About Me

My name is Matthew. I'm a 20 year old male who spent most of my life growing up in the Middle-East. My family left when I was 2 years old so that my Dad could start working as an Air Traffic Controller in a small country called Bahrain. When I was 16 years of age we officially, and hopefully permanently, moved back to Australia, where I finished my schooling. The topics that I become most interested and animated in are usually, computer gaming, social activities and gospel related topics. Up until i was 18, my whole life was centered around computer gaming, and sometimes school.. Since I turned 18 however, the YSA program that comes from the church has been almost a daily activity for me.. I have never had as much fun in my life as I do when spending time with my YSA friends from church! At the beginning of May 2014, I sent in my missionary papers in hopes to become a missionary for the Church, a few weeks later I received a letter telling me that I had been called to serve a mission in California!! I was so excited and shocked I lost all feeling for my hands and could scarcely believe that it was true.. I love this church and have a sincere testimony that I believe that it is the true church. I am excited to be serving in such an incredible place.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a belief that this church is true. Many times in my life I have had specific experiences that I can pin point that have testified to me that this church is the true church. I believe that my life has been drastically improved because of my choice to follow the example that Jesus has set for us.. The standards that this church has in place for me to follow brings happiness, peace and comfort into my life. I truly believe that I am happier with my life because I choose to willingly follow this Church. Living Christs gospel has allowed to me feel the support that my God and Savior provide for me when trials come my way. Trials are a necessary part of life, that cannot be avoided, when I felt alone or in despair, angry or upset with the circumstances that life can bring, always in the back of my head is the knowledge that the Savior understands me is there for my when I need him. These are the reasons I am a Mormon. It is so satisfying living by the standards of the Church. I wish nothing more than to share it with those around me but sometimes fail to find the right words. I believe in this church, and wish all to find out for themselves whether or not this church is true.. Nobody can force you to believe. It must be a choice. I can not put into words how much love I have for my God, how thankful I am.

How I live my faith

I live a regular Australian life. I have finished school, work as a pizza deliver boy, and spend as much time possible with my friends. The only thing you may find different between myself and the average young Aussie male is that I attend church, and try to live a christian lifestyle. It affects the activities I participate in, my language, my actions and thoughts towards others and my priorities in life. The way I live my faith is very simple. I try my best to follow the example that Jesus Christ set while he was upon the earth. Christ never said it would be easy, he just said it would be possible.. I have faith that this is Christs church, and that it is His gospel.. Every night and day I say my prayers and read the scriptures, I try on a daily basis to be an example to those around me.. To show kindness and patience and in general try to be the best person I can be. Living this gospel is a lifestyle, not a Sunday routine. Essentially the 13th article of faith sums up important attributes that I try to apply in my life: We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul - We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Matt
We believe in following the example that Jesus left us, and he helped absolutely anyone and everyone who came to him during the time he spent on the earth 2000 years ago.. Following Jesus' example means to serve and give charity to all, forgive all, and love all.. This is not a church that helps only its own.. But all. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Matt
We believe in both the Book of Mormon and the Bible. The Book of Mormon in our belief has been correctly translated from its ancient text by the prophet Joseph Smith. We believe in the Bible as far as it is translated correctly.. Jesus taught many wonderful principles while he was on the earth, and many of them can be read from the Bible.. However it is our belief that over time the Bible has been incorrectly changed without proper authority and many plain and simple truths have been taken out, that is why we believe in the Bible but only as far as it is correctly translated..
