Hi I'm Alex

I grew up in Salt Lake, I'm a debater, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After I serve my mission to Cambodia, I'll be headed to College to study Business. I love debating, and placed 6th in impromptu speaking at the 2014 NSDA National Speech and Debate tournament. I've taken 1st place in 4A Utah State competition twice. I play the cello as well, and have been both principal, and assistant principal cellist in several community symphonies/orchestras.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I've learned for myself the Church is true. Even though I don't know everything, and even though sometimes I still have doubts, I can say that the doctrines of the Church are the truest and best teachings on earth today. I grew up in the church so I never had many real questions about my testimony until I got into high school. For a few years I began to doubt the church, and would sometimes even consider leaving it simply because I read some new scripture I couldn't understand or because I was faced with a new trial. Gradually though, I learned that the Book of Mormon prophet Alma was right when he stated in Alma 32: 26-27: " Now, as I said concerning faith—that it was not a perfect knowledge—even so it is with my words. Ye cannot know of their surety at first, unto perfection, any more than faith is a perfect knowledge. But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words." I learned then that its perfectly ok to have doubts, because faith isn't where you know everything, its simply when you trust the feelings you've had from the spirit, and you trust that the lord will only do that which is good for you. I know the Church is true, and I know that if someone searches the scriptures, they will find that God loves them, and will answer questions that you bring before him.

How I live my faith

Every day I try to make sure that I try a little harder to become a better person, and a better servant of the lord. I also have the opportunity to serve a full time mission to Cambodia. Even though I'm not perfect, I try and live my life in a way that shows the values of the church, and also be willing to answer questions people might have.
