Hi I'm Spencer

I was raised in Orem Utah. I love to climb. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to get out and be active. While in high school I participated in wrestling, lacrosse, football, and tennis. Outside of team sports I also love climbing, running, and hiking. I live in the beautiful state of Utah where we have just about everything an outdoors men could wish for. I also enjoy reading and furthering my education. I have an associates degree and plan on returning to college after my Mission. I have always tried to push myself in life to accomplish big things and I try to live to the fullest.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true Church of God on this earth today. I grew up in the Church but I was not truly converted until I was 18 years old. I finally got on my knees and prayed to my Father in heaven and asked if this was the true church; if Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God; and if the Book of Mormon was truly another testament of Jesus Christ. After kneeling down and asking in faith, willing to accept that which my Father in heaven told me, because I knew he would never lead me astray, I had an overwhelming sense of peace and comfort; I knew I had done the right thing in asking. After this sense of comfort the still small voice of the Holy Ghost testified to me that these things were indeed true. Joseph Smith was called of God to reestablish His church on the earth in this dispensation; The Book of Mormon is a true account of Jesus Christ and his people that were lead to the Americas; And finally, with these two other facts being true, it was made known unto me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only true and correct church on this earth today. I know these things to be true and cannot deny them because I was given the truth of them from my Father in heaven who would never lead me astray.

How I live my faith

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints but I was not truly converted until I joined the Navy and had my faith put to the test. After receiving my discharge from the Navy and coming back home to Utah I have tried to keep moving forward in faith. I am currently an adviser in my ward young men's group. My calling is to help out in anyway I can and be there to help teach and advise the young men of my ward. I have enjoyed every minute of this calling and could honestly not have asked for a better place to be.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Our Father in Heaven loves us and really wants to see us happy and successful. He wants us to know Him and He wants us to communicate with Him. Honestly the best way that I have found to come to know my Father in Heaven is to pray, read the scriptures, and follow his commandments. Often times friends of mine have told me that praying does not work and that they are not receiving answers. When they tell me this I ask them several questions: Are you reading your scriptures as well as praying? are you seeking to keep his commandments? are you giving him an opportunity to answer? Almost always the answer to one of these questions is no and sometimes all of them are a no. If we wish to know our Father in Heaven not only must we pray, but we must also study his scriptures to us. "We communicate to our Father in Heaven through prayer, He communicates to us through the scriptures"-unknown. If you are doing all these things and seeking to live in harmony with our Father's will for us I promise you will begin to know of Him and His love for you. He truly does love you. Show more Show less
