Hi I'm Jessie

I was born and raised in Provo, UT and attended BYU. I'm about to serve a mission in Toronto, Canada! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been dancing for the last 15 years of my life! I do a variety of styles including jazz, ballet, hip hop, and ballroom. My focus recently has been on ballroom. I was able to be a part of the BYU Ballroom Tour team. While I've been on the team we have traveled to many parts of the US, China and Hong Kong. I love to travel! I also love to hike and run. I just ran my first half marathon this last summer and plan to do more when I return from my mission. I'm serving in Toronto, Canada and can't wait. I was studying Human Development at BYU and have a couple semesters left before I graduate with my Bachelors.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be born into the church. My parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents were all active members. I grew up going to church and living the gospel with amazing examples surrounding me. The Book of Mormon has been such a blessing in my life. I have turned to it in times of need and have found answers to my questions. It also brings me comfort and peace. I know that it is true and I know that the prophet Joseph Smith translated it and that he was our first latter-day prophet. I know the God lives and loves each one of us. He understands what we are going through and will help us if we let Him. I know that Jesus lived on this earth and died for us and in the process repented for our sins. Because of Him, we are able to repent of our sins and become better people. I know President Thomas S. Monson is our true prophet today and that he leads and guides us in this generation. He is under the direction of our Heavenly Father and gives us the council we need to hear. I know that I can be with my family again because of the plan of salvation. This principle has brought me so much peace in my life. My father died right before I was born and to know that I will meet him and live with him again makes it all OK. I know that this is the true church and I'm going grateful for it!

How I live my faith

I feel so blessed to have an amazing ward. I am currently in a young single adult ward and am surrounded by good friends who are good people. I visit teach a couple of girls and love my assignment. I enjoy our visits every month and have developed such admiration for the girls. I was previously the ward choir pianist which I also loved. It was nice to get together as a choir each week and sing songs which brought peace to me. I would also leave feeling happy and content and would often think of the lyrics and tune randomly throughout the week.
