Hi I'm Caleb

Living in Hickory, NC. Love baseball and BYU football. Leaving for Salt Lake City Central mission on September 17. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from high school and am going on a mission. I was called to serve the Utah Salt Lake City Central Spanish speaking mission! During high school, I played on the varsity baseball team and was apart of numerous clubs. I have been accepted and will be attending BYU-Provo in January 2017 when I return from my mission. I love me some BYU football! I love sports as well, baseball and football mostly. I am a die hard Milwaukee Brewers fan for baseball, and an Indianapolis Colts fan for football. I also work at the local movie theater, which is great because I love movies. I have been a member of the church all my life and love it. Other than just finishing school, going to church, and preparing for my mission, I am a normal kid.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love this church. I have been a member all my life and always went to church with my parents. When I was around 11 or 12, I realized that I really wanted to go to church every Sunday, it stopped being something that I just went with my parents to. Even on Sundays when my parents would not go, I would walk to church because we only lived a few blocks away. As I go to church, youth groups, go out with the missionaries, or even just read personally out of the scriptures, everything just feels right. The church just makes sense. Some of the happiest times of my life were because of the church. I continue to follow His gospel because I know it is the right thing. I feel good when I do what I'm suppose to. I know that this church is true because, how could it not be? There are so many things that add up and just fit together and that bring so much happiness. I've seen it. I know this church is true because of the feelings I get when I'm around and in the church environment. It makes me so happy. And what is better than happiness?

How I live my faith

I live my faith both in my church community and my school community. In school, I was captain of the D.R.E.A.M. team, which stands for Daring to Role model Excellence as Athletic Mentors. What it was, was a club of student athletes who pledged to be alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and violence free. This gave me an opportunity to spread my beliefs, especially about the Word of Wisdom to my peers at school. Also, at school, I was dubbed the nickname "Mormon" especially on the baseball team. They all knew my faith and what I stood for. Throughout the last couple seasons, some of my teammates realized that I did not swear or use foul language. The trend soon came to be that the team would lessen their swearing, eventually to the point where these words were not even used. I was very grateful that my team realized and made it a goal to stop. In church, I have made the decision to go serve a 2 year mission for The Lord in Salt Lake City. I report September 17th to the Mexico MTC and I couldn't be more excited. I had a little get together when I opened my call and I had tons of non-member friends who were excited to share the experience with me. I can't wait to serve. Also, I have served in my ward with other young men around my age as president of some of our youth groups and scouting groups. It is a wonderful opportunity to be able to help and serve with the young men. I love this gospel.
