Hi I'm Maxwell

I was born and raised in West Michigan, living on the North Shore of Oahu attending BYU Hawaii and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at BYU Hawaii. Hawaii is filled with adventure and I am constantly hiking, surfing, and studying. Living a healthy life is important to me and the church has helped me to do so. Helping others always brings joy into my life. I have been a part of a non profit called Wait21 that teaches kids about the science of addiction. Addiction has a close connection to almost everybody; however, not many people know what it is. Understanding addiction has helped me to deal with my mother and her struggle with alcohol. She has been an alcoholic my whole life and I never knew how to deal with her. With the help of friends, family, and the church, I have gotten through my rough childhood. However; I didn't want to just get through the tough times, I wanted to understand what was going on and help others not have to face the same struggle. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teaches the word of wisdom. Very few members fall into the grip of addiction, and my favorite part... If someone does, the church offers many resources to help those who are addicted or struggling with any life crisis.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I would not be where I am today without the Church. As a young man who never was truly active in the church until his later teenage years, I see the blessings that the church offers. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church. I believe many churches are great and all have great ideas that promote healthy living. However; I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true restored church of Jesus Christ. I have been to many churches and am thankful for the full understanding that the Church of Jesus Christ has taught me. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I have read it and throughout my reading felt the spirit. I never received a vision or huge epiphany; I received a comfort and feeling in my heart and mind that I knew for a fact that the Book of Mormon was true. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and translated ancient golden plates that became known as the Book of Mormon. I know that we have continual revelation from prophets on the earth today that warn us and teach us about what our Heavenly Father wants us to know. I share with you these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

In the past I was a ward missionary where I would help the missionaries find, teach, and serve investigators of the church as well as members of the church. I have also served as the 1st assistant of the priest quorum and teachers quorum.
