Hi I'm Johann

I am a full-time father, part-time human, and work full time as a school psychologist for a local school district. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of three children. I used to play drums in a rock/ska/punk band and an indie/rock band, but that feels like so long ago now. I quit the bands to chase my wife and attend college at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. I like all things old--old movies, old books, old art. In fact, my nickname in college was "Old Man." I served a mission for our church in Uruguay, which also happens to be my mother's home country. It was quite an amazing experience to serve where she is from and see my family members while serving there. Learning Spanish has helped me to build stronger relationships with them. I currently work as a school psychologist, trying to help our local children in any way that I can. I also try to keep up a blog. I look forward to the experiences that life has to offer me and my family.

Why I am a Mormon

There is really no other church like this one. We have the Book of Mormon and have been given the promise that if we read it with real intent and ask God sincerely if it is true, he will let us know it is true. I took that challenge to heart and received my answer in deep feelings of light and conviction. The teachings of the Church make the purpose of life clear and bring us closer to God.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as the Ward Mission Leader in our ward. I'm probably not the best example of what a member-missionary should be, but I try to reach out to others in ways I feel comfortable doing. I am open about my faith and try to leave little clues here and there about my religious affiliation. For example, I hang a BYU pennant in my office at work and wear my BYU shirt to work every Friday.
