Hi I'm Makenzie

I'm a college student. I'm a dancer. Serving a mission in Italy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a college student studying biological chemistry. Dancing is my passion. I competed on my college and high school dance teams. I hope to someday become a doctor and help build up medical institutions in third-world countries. I want to be a mother someday. I love hiking, biking, boating, and anything outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into a strong LDS family. My parents taught me the value of working hard and serving others. They are such a great blessing in my life. I have also been blessed to grow up with valiant friends who are honest and true, and have taught me to be the same. And all these people have brought me to the place where I really can say that I am proud to be a member of Christ's Church on the earth today. But, the real reason I am a Mormon is because I have felt the power of Jesus Christ and His atonement in my life. I have held onto Him when I had nothing else to hold on to. I know the joy that washes over me when I partake of His endless mercy and repent. I have read the Book of Mormon and have received a testimony from the Holy Ghost that it is true. I have heard the words of a modern-day prophet and know that he was called of God. I have felt God's love for me in more ways than I can possibly recall. And that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am about to enter my full time missionary service for 18 months. I will go and teach the people of Italy about Heavenly Father's love for them, His plan for our happiness, and how we can someday return to Him.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Makenzie
Since church services are where we learn and worship Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, we want to look our best! Wearing white shirts and ties for men and skirts or dresses for women show our respect and love to God and His Son. Mormons celebrate all the holidays that coincide with the most important events of Christ's life. That being said, we love Christmas! Celebrating the birth of the Savior and God's gift to the world surrounded by family and friends are some of the most cherished memories for many members of the Church. We also celebrate His resurrection: Easter! Again, with family and friends we celebrate Christ overcoming death and providing a way for us to walk back into Heavenly Father's presence. We may throw in a few deviled eggs on the side, just for fun. We also celebrate all regional and national holidays for the countries in which we live. My favorite is Halloween! Show more Show less
