Hi I'm Eli McKay Harris

I live in Missouri, I will be serving in Carlsbad California, I love swimming, I'm a State Water Polo Champion, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a water loving boy, been in the pool since I could walk, competed in both swimming state finals and won water polo state championship this past year 2014 season with great friends and team mates. Poetry and english along with the gospel are things I must have in my life to find enjoyment out of it, reading is a pleasure not a curse for me. After mission I plan to go study at BYU Hawaii to get a double major in political science and english then hopefully go to Law School up at BYU Provo, then one day make it into the US Marshall services. From the years 2014-2016 I will be serving my mission for the church in Carlsbad California, english speaking of course and I am so excited for my chance to serve the Lord and spread His teachings to others around me. My dog Mo is my best friend and basically any other furry friend I happen to meet. Dogs are a must for me when it comes to a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for obvious things like I was lucky enough to be born into the church, I look back and now see how big of a blessing that was especially with all the other possibilities out there. Not to say other religions would have been bad, of course not any faith has its virtues, but I am glad that I was able to be brought up in the teachings of the Mormon Church because it allowed me to be strong when life got bad and know that there is always a reason the Lord puts his people thru hardships and that we will be rewarded in the end for going thru them also. I also am a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is true word of God, that Joseph Smith was inspired by him and that thru him we were able to restore Jesus Christ and God's church to the earth in latter days. I am a Mormon because I know my Savior loved me enough to give me certain blessings thru the power of the priesthood and know that he will allow me to do the same thing to others down the road both during and after my mission. I am a Mormon because I have a testimony that Jesus Christ wants the best for us, and to prove that He sent His Son to die for our sins. So that we could live with Them again in the next life.

How I live my faith

I served in many callings in my ward for the past 19 years of my life, from deacons quorum president (boys ages 12-13 group) to teachers secretary (boys 14-15 group), and even as first assistant in the priest quorum (boys 16-18 group), I loved getting to know my new group of brothers no matter how stubborn or irritating they got sometimes or how hard it was to stay after every sunday for more then the usual amount, but once you learn to love the work all else is easy. My last year before my mission I serve as a Ward Missionary, which means that I go out with the Elders, or Missionaries in my Ward and go visit either investigators to the church or inactive members of our particular ward or branch. Its a lot of fun because by going out with them I can learn more things thru their examples and get good tricks of the trade before I go out and put them to my own use in the upcoming Mission I have in Carlsbad. I also spend time Home Teaching with my grandpa to three other families in our ward, we do our best to go see them at least once a month and see how they are doing and share with them a spiritual message about the love our Savior has for everyone.
