Hi I'm Jacob

I grew up in Farmington, NM. I'm going to be a missionary for the LDS Church in the France, Paris Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old and just graduated high school. I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life. I am leaving to serve as a missionary in August 2014 for the France, Paris Mission. While in high school I played on the varsity football team, playing quarterback. Our team won the state championship. Outside of football I love swimming, playing volleyball, and basketball. I also love to sing and play the piano. I plan to attend BYU upon the return of my mission. I cannot wait to go into the mission field and be an instrument in helping others feel the same joy and peace I have discovered in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

There came a time in my life, just like there comes a time in everyone’s life, when you take a step back and wonder why we are here on earth. Is there a purpose? Am I important? Now, I grew up in the LDS church, which answers these questions, but there still came a time when I had to know for myself if what I had been taught in my youth was true. At this point, I decided to read the Book of Mormon, which testifies of Christ. It teaches us that families can be eternal! That we have a loving Father in Heaven (God) who loves each and every one of us! He knows YOU by name. And His one desire to help us return to be with Him after this life. As human, we all make mistakes and with that are unclean to return to live with Him after this life. That is why we have the Savior. Jesus Christ, our Savior, the only literal Son of God, loved each of us enough to come and sacrifice himself for us. He not only lived a perfect life, but felt all the pains, sins, fears, and inadequacies of every one of us. He lived MY life. He lived YOUR life. So when we make mistakes we can repent and put our errors on Him, and become worthy to be with our loving Heavenly Father again. Because of what the Savior did, we can have peace and joy in this life. We have purpose here. And we have the wonderful knowledge that we can be with those we love after this life. And those who didn’t get a chance here on earth to hear this wonderful message, will get a chance after this life. I came to know that this was true as I prayed and asked. And I received an answer as I felt His loving peace wrapped around me. I knew in my heart and mind that this is right. We can all receive that same peace. I know that we are here for a purpose and that we are loved more than we could ever imagine. Just ask and you can know as well.

How I live my faith

I am a ward missionary and love it! As a ward missionary, I help the missionaries with whoever they are teaching in any way they need it. On occasion I get to go out with them and help teach. I absolutely love it when I get those opportunities to teach with them. It excites me for my own mission.
