Hi I'm Garrett

I am planning to go to college to become a general surgeon. I really like music and Netflix and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I really like music. More than most things. I started band when I was in 7th grade and played the saxophone. I enjoyed it more than anything. I listen every day. I've skied too, ever since I was 3 years old. I try to find all the funny things in life, whether it's on YouTube, everyday life, or Pinterest. Yes, I am a man with Pinterest and [mostly] unashamed. I plan to go to college at either Weber University or the University of Utah to get my associates degree then possibly change schools all leading up to going to medical school and becoming a surgeon. I am currently serving a mission in Morristown, New Jersey.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that this is the one and only fully true church on this earth. I no longer look at it as a matter of faith. I was born into the church, and that provides its own set of challenges. People who are born into the church need their own type of conversion, so that they aren't just doing what their parents told them to do. I gained this when I was 14 and that was perhaps one of the greatest things that I have ever gotten and I'm not sure what else I can get that will come close to that. To me, this church is just a matter of fact. The church provides answers when nobody else can. I know that Jesus lived, loves me, and died for me. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet called of God and that he is the true leader. Because of the church, I am able to spend all of eternity with my family and I am so grateful for that.

How I live my faith

I go home teaching every month with my companion, meaning that I go and teach a lesson to families and check up on them and I'm there to help them anytime they may need a priesthood holder to or any just help them in general. One of my other calls is to go and help out with the special needs class in my ward, which has an autistic boy and a down syndrome boy. I go to church every Sunday and try to fulfill all my callings to the best of my ability. Currently, I am serving a mission for the next two years in Morristown, New Jersey and I know that that is where I need to be right now.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Simply put, our purpose here on Earth is to grow. We must go through trials and hardships and depend on faith. This is all part of God's divine plan that's meant to give us a way to live with him again and have perfect, glorified bodies and live with him again. The time we spend here on Earth is meant to be difficult, but by following the teachings of the gospel that have been laid out before us, we can experience true happiness. He gave us this plan so that we can exercise our agency: the ability to choose between good and evil. He did all of this for us because he is our loving Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
