Hi I'm Phil

I enjoy singing, growing a garden, visiting family, also hiking, riding bicycle, and outings with my family.

About Me

I am the youngest of 6 children. I was raised on a sheep, dairy, and crop farm in Utah. I attended schools in Utah. Singing in the school operas and in the church in the area brought my wife and me together. My wife accompanied me on the piano. In high school and college I participated in choir, drama, basketball, and track. At Brigham Young University I received my BS degree in teaching. I taught in an elementary school. I love my country and have served in the military. I have a beautiful wife and we have been married 47 years. Six children and 18 grandchildren have blessed our lives.

Why I am a Mormon

Teachings from my Mother and the example of my brother helped me gain a testimony of the truth in the Mormon Church. Also as I have studied and compared other churches’ doctrines and organizations, the Mormon Church was the only one that clearly resembled the Church Jesus Christ organized during his ministry. Studying, praying and receiving answers to my prayers have helped me to know the truthfulness of the Mormon Church. I am a Mormon because I know it is God’s true Church.

How I live my faith

I am trying to live a Christ centered life. I have taken upon me the name of Jesus Christ and have covenanted to keep His commandments. I'm trying to serve Him by doing good works for my fellow men which, I hope will be worthy of His divine approval. Living the principles and ordinances set forth in the Mormon Church helps me to be my brothers’ keeper. I read the Bible and the Book of Mormon and the teachings I receive from these scriptures help me to be a more Christ like person. I have been a teacher to the youth as well as the adults in my church. Working in the scouting program has been a blessing for me and my family. Also each month I visit 3 or 4 families and teach and exhort them to come unto Christ. I am glad that I am a Mormon.
