Hi I'm Mikala Dent

I have lived in Missouri, Oklahoma, Nevada and now here in Oregon. I have been called to serve in the Tennessee Nashville Mission.

About Me

I am the youngest of three and I absolutely love my family. I have lived in a total of five cities and I am currently serving in the Tennessee Nashville Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am planning on coming back home to attend BYU-Idaho in the future so that I can study English education. I am stronger than I look, and I try my hardest to do what the Lord would want me to do. My two older siblings are no longer a direct part of the church, but I still look up to them for different reasons so very much, and I know they love me. I have been blessed by their examples, and I know that they are always available if I need to turn to someone for guidance. My parents are also wonderful examples to me, and I am so grateful for the love they have shown me over the years. My whole family has been very supportive of my decision to serve the Lord for a year and a half, and I have felt very blessed because of that.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church is true, and because we have a very loving and patient Father in Heaven. I grew up in the Church, and while I usually went most Sundays, I was not a very strong member for a very long time. I prayed to know for myself that the church is true when I was 14, and I received a powerful answer. I didn't, however, choose to develop much of a foundation for that gospel truth to flourish off of, and I fell away for a short period of time in my late teens. I wasn't doing what I knew my Heavenly Father would want me to do, and I just felt so lost for a bit. After a while, I realized that I was most happy when I was at church and I wanted to be a better person. I changed my attitude and habits, and prayed to recieve the answer to go on a mission, which I had never previously thought to even consider. Everything leading up to my mission just continued to build on my testimony, and I soon felt such a wonderful peace and comfort knowing that I was doing what my Father in Heaven would want me to do. I have since prayed more and continue to know for myself that the Church is true, the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and I know that I have been sent exactly where the Lord wanted me to be sent. I made sure to find out for myself that the Church is true. I know that there is a Father in Heaven, and He wants all of us to return to live with Him. Through the Savior's atonement, that is possible, and I know that to be true. I am confident in my faith and I have a desire to learn as much about the gospel as I can.

How I live my faith

I live my faith right now by being a missionary in the Tennessee Nashville Mission. I have never been more confident in a decision than the choice I have made to serve the Lord. I know that I am where He wants me to be. I have seen too many miracles to not believe in them, and I know that the Lord is very much aware of His missionaries. I encourage others to come closer to Christ, and to ask questions so that they can find answers for themselves. I know of no greater joy than that of inviting others to become even better than they already are. I live my faith by making the most out of every situation and trying to find ways for me to serve those around me.
