Hi I'm Dave

I love watching the sun rise and the smell of the ocean air. I'm a Commercial Lobsterman from Maine. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in a small coastal community in Maine. I spent my childhood either playing in the ocean or working on my father's Lobsterboat. When I was a senior in highschool I met this beautiful girl who caught my eye and captured my heart! But what I am most greatful to her for is that she shared her beliefs in God with me. what I I learned about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints from her CHANGED MY LIFE and the life of my future children. I am now married to that Amazing woman and we have three Incredible children. I'm so grateful that my children have grown up with all the wonderful wholesome programs of the church. I love to play golf something about being on the first tee early in the morning as the sun is just peeking over the trees is therapudic for me. My wife and I have a date night every week. It doesn't have to be fancy but it keeps us connected and intune with one another. I love to experience new things with my family. Wether it is traveling or playing a new game together etc. Family makes this life great, not that it is without challenges by any means. But that you have people who love you unconditionally with the same beliefs and goals to a point working togeather is definately a Devine plan.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of what I have learned over the past 20 years I have been a member of the church. It has given me greater understanding of why I am here. What I need to do return to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. The things that are most important in my life. And that I can make a difference and be a force for good in many peoples lives. I know that thru the authority of the priesthood and in God's Holy Temple a husband and wife can be married for ALL ETERNITY, not just till death do us part. Which gives me great comfort to know that all the wonderful moments, the sacrifices that were made, the tears that were shed for joy or sorrow, moments of clarity, the amazing experiences…continue on and are recorded in our own book of life. They are not forgotten but become part of our story and add to joy that comes from a life of dedication to a spouse. I know that God loves me enough to send his only Son to make a Sacrifice that none other was qualified to make. In order to make it possible for me to overcome my sins thru his atonement. The Gospel is a blueprint for us to follow which details for us how overcome the world and be doers of righteousness. Im so very greatful for the knoweledge I have gained thru my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. And would Recommed to all who seek direction, Peace, Joy, and Comfort to investigate the Church. My life has been richly blessed because of the courage that my wife had to share with me what I now know makes her soo special…. Her Identity…..a daughter of God! The beauty of it all is that this knoweledge is avaliable to anyone who wants it. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving as the 2nd counselor in the Young Men's program. I love serving the youth they are so fun and honest. We have a great time in our lessons talking about God and how he has such great expectations for us, and what we can do to live up to those expectations. I am so greatful to see through my different callings in the church over the years the great desire people have to do good in the world. It brings me great peace and joy to be associated with so many different people who want to serve God who are kind and thoughtful. People who who look for opportunitys to serve others and lift up the heavy hearted. Each August in our Ward we have what we call a Lobster Social. We invite friends, family, associates, etc. and we have a good old Lobster bake. The children play, the adults visit, new aquaintances are made, friendships strengthened. I love going home teaching and visiting members of our church in their homes. Helping them when possible and bringing a spiritual message to share. It strengthens both Hometeacher and those being home taught. Our family has started a new routine in our home that is based on the Parable of the Ten Virgins. My wife found oil lamps for each family member, every night before bed we recount the good deeds that we did for example: read our scriptures, served someone in some way, exercised, etc. recieves a drop of oil in our oil lamps. Then at some undesclosed time we will call the children in and check the lamps if they are full we have a fun family trip planned as a reward. Trying to live a life as Christ did full of service, compassion, love, and patience is admittedly not easy but so rewarding and makes me feel like I am improving as a person. But most importantly seeing my children choose service over selfishness, compassion over cruelty and love over hate has to be one of the best moments of being a parent.
