Hi I'm Vanessa

I am from Laie, HI and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am what you would call mixed-plate. I am Hawaiian, Cook Island-Maori, Tahitian, Chinese, Portuguese and Caucasian (French, Irish, Scottish). I am a Preschool Teacher. I love working and being around young children. They have this awesome spirit in them that reassures me that life is not that bad and we should just smile. I love being outdoors but I can be content with staying indoors. I love going to the beach (paddle boarding is my new hobby), hiking (Hawaii has some amazing views), shopping (online is the way to go!) traveling, eating, trying new things and being with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member all my life. I have been brought up by goodly parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. I am not perfect, nor will I ever be. But this gospel helps me to strive for perfection in life. It helps me to have a sense of living. About 8 1/2 years ago my father died just shortly after my 18th birthday. It was a sudden death, my dad was healthy and a hard worker. Then two years later my grandpa had past. They were two important people in my life that I cared deeply for. It had been hard on my family but we all knew they are in a better place. Thanks to the gospel, families can be together forever if we strive to be like our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Our family motto is "No empty chairs." We promise each other that we will try to work hard in this life and leave no empty chairs in heaven. I am bless to have been raised in this gospel and raised by inspirational people, because of their unwavering faith in the gospel I was able to serve a full-time mission of this church. I was able to teach life-improvement lessons to the people of the Marshall Islands. It was a whole different world, but I was able to see how the gospel change people's lives for the better. Here I was able to learn the true meaning of service. I can go on and on how this gospel has and continue to bless my life everyday. I know if you truly wanted to know for yourself you would pray and ask god. (James 1:5) This gospel is simple but sometimes people, media, situations can make it seem like it is difficult. I pray that my message will help you seek the truth.

How I live my faith

In the world we live in it can be really cruel and SATAN is REAL. Some ways I try to live my faith beside attending and participating in church meetings/ functions are: Attending the temple on a weekly basis, here I am able to reflect on what I need to do to either get back on track or find answer to problems. Another way is trying to be a good example not only to my siblings and friends but those that I come in contact with.
