Hi I'm Liberty

I am college level science teacher with a PhD in Astronomy. I am married with four boys that we homeschool. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in Southern California. After high school graduation I attended the church sponsored university BYU in Provo, Utah. I really enjoyed my college years and eventually went on to earn a PhD in Astronomy and Physics. While working on my doctorate I married my wonderful husband and we have 4 beautiful boys. They have a lot of energy and deep passions for life. We now live in Alabama for my husband's work. I spend my days homeschooling our boys, reading (historical fiction is my favorite but I will read just about anything), teaching online community college classes in science, gardening, doing family history, and visiting museums. I also enjoy serving others by volunteering with the youth through church, helping others do family history, and assisting my elderly neighbors. I look forward to seeing my children embrace the happiness of the gospel and develop their own precious families. I also dream of traveling with my husband to bring the gospel and literacy to underprivileged countries.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because it makes me happy-a deep, permanent, peaceful kind of happy. This happiness has come from following the teachings of the gospel and actively participating as a member of the church. I know I came from a loving Heavenly Father and am here on the earth to be tried and tested. I know the Savior atoned for my sins and I will return to live with Him some day. Through the gospel I can be together with my family for eternity. I have found obedience to the gospel to be a source of lasting joy as it has guided me to healthy, meaningful relationships and a productive lifestyle. I feel supported from both heavenly and earthly sources in my quest to better myself and guide my family. Nothing else could come close to providing the true joy I have from being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Currently, I assist with the youth in the church. One night a week we get together with the youth and participate in uplifting activities. By assisting the youth in planning and carrying out these evenings, we teach them the skills needed to be future leaders in the church and community. I also enjoy family history work. In addition to researching my own ancestors, I help others both in the church and throughout my community find and document their own family trees. The joy on their faces as they get to know their roots is a wonderful. Homeschooling also provides another opportunity for me to live and share my faith in the community. As we participate with other homeschooling families of all religions in different classes and field trips, we are able to let others know of our beliefs and values through example and comfortable conversation.
