Hi I'm Daniel Wheelock

Missionary in the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida Mission. Tacoma, WA raised. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I'm 18 years old and number seven out of eleven siblings. I love athletics! I played football and baseball all throughout high school as a quarterback and a catcher. I was taught growing up that you have to train yourself physically, mentally, and most importantly spiritually. I have big dreams in life. I want to eventually after serving my mission, become a college professor of kinesiology. But first comes my mission. I am serving in the Fort Lauderdale Mission speaking Spanish and just loving being able to Preach the Gospel every single day to the people in South Florida!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know it to be the one and only true church here on this earth. Growing up in this church I have always know it to be true, based on my parents and siblings testimonies. But once I came to the knowledge of my own testimony of Jesus Christ and his eternal atonement I knew with out a shadow of a doubt that this gospel is true. It wasn't a huge miraculous moment where the heavens opened, but it was just one simple prompting by the Holy Ghost during a prayer. I was feeling very stressed out about a work load I had. I was a head member of a church camp and organizing everything for the camp feel upon 6 other teenage boys and myself. It was a very trying task for all of us. As the start of the camp was just two days away, I knelt down and asked Heavenly Father in prayer if all this stress and work was really worth it. Not a second later the thought came into my mind that "Of course it is". Four words solidified seventeen years of learning, pain, happiness, struggle, and now pure joy. My life wasn't any where near perfect at that point and it never will be but through Christ's Atonement I am able to say that this Gospel and everything that we as Members of this Church stand for is worth it. The pain we feel through repentance and the joys we feel from it are worth it. Giving two devoted years of my life to my Savior Jesus Christ is more than worth it! I love this Gospel more than anything else in this world and I am so thankful to see the blessing s in my life because of it. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through my actions. Being a leader on a sports team, in a classroom setting, or with my family, has given me the opportunity to lead and act as Jesus Christ would. I was raised in a home where everyone loved each other and we all still do. That feeling of love and compassion for one another has lead me to feel the same about everyone I come in contact with. I try to care and show Christ like love to anyone and everyone. To really answer the question "How I live my faith?" would boil down to, service. I try to serve as many people as possible whether it be with a smile, opening of a door, or helping someone paint their house, etc.. I have made the decision to devote two years of my life to the Lord because I know that I need to serve the people in Fort Lauderdale. That the Lord has a plan for me and so through my service, actions, and faith I can live like him and be an example of him.
