Hi I'm Karla

I'm a convert, a high school teacher, a mother and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in New Jersey, where I lived for seven years until I moved to Virginia. I spent my younger years going to many different churches trying to find truth. I had many questions but none of the churches I attended seemed to have the answers. It wasn't until I began to study Mormonism that all of my questions were answered and everything seemed to make sense. I joined the Mormon church just after I turned eighteen. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from George Mason University and a Master's Degree from Virginia Tech. I am a high school math teacher, wife and a mother of eight.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the peace and joy that the gospel brings. Through the majority of my teenage years I felt that there was something missing. I wanted and needed to understand my purpose in life. I felt there were things that I needed to understand, but I didn't have the answers. I went to several churches looking for those answers and it wasn't until I went to the Mormon church that I found them. I now know that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father, that He loves me and that I can go to Him for guidance. I know that the Holy Ghost can be my constant companion and can witness truth. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, that He died for me and that through Him I can repent and one day return to my Heavenly Father. I know that families are forever, and knowing that effects my relationship with my family deeply. I know that the true gospel has been restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. The Book of Mormon has brought me great peace and answered many of my questions. If you told me I could only have one book, the Book of Mormon is the book I would choose. I invite and encourage all to read this great book.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day. I pray to my Heavenly Father everyday and turn to Him in all of my daily affairs. I strive to treat others with kindness and respect. I try to study the scriptures daily both personally and with my family. I feel as we do so it brings peace and joy into my very busy life. I am not perfect, but strive to emulate the Savior and His love through my actions.
