Hi I'm Jessica

I'm a daughter, sister, friend, college student, adventurer, and missionary! I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love hiking in the mountains, playing the piano, singing, jump-roping, baking, and traveling to new places. I love spending time with my amazing family. I'm nineteen years old and am studying elementary education in college. For the next eighteen months, however, I am setting aside college and everything else at home to serve in the México Puebla North Mission. I have always loved teaching, and I am passionate about the gospel. Teaching the gospel as a full-time missionary has long been a goal of mine, and I am very excited to serve a mission at this time.

Why I am a Mormon

Much of my family have been members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for generations, so I was born into a home where the gospel was taught. I loved it as a child, and as I've grown older my testimony of the gospel has grown stronger. I am very grateful for the decisions of my ancestors that allowed me to have the gospel so early in life. But the true reason that I am a Mormon is because I have prayed, studied, and searched to know for myself that the Church is true. I have read and prayed about the Book of Mormon and felt the Holy Spirit testify to my heart that it is true. The same has happened with other scriptures and words of living prophets. As I have lived the standards of the Church, I have seen the Hand of God in my life and have been blessed to know that He is pleased with my efforts and He will continue to help me as I follow Him. This has brought me so much peace and happiness in life. Because of my religion, I know that I need not walk alone through life; I can rely on Jesus Christ. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6) I'm trying to follow Christ; this is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life in a way that reflects my commitment to Jesus Christ. I try to always be kind toward other people, and treat them the way Jesus would want me to. I like to participate in service projects in my community, as well as doing small and spontaneous acts of service for those around me. I actively participate in church. I have had the opportunity to teach primary-aged children as well as adults in Sunday school classes. Part of my faith is sharing my knowledge of God with others. "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20). I have decided to serve a mission because I want to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. I have found much joy in following Jesus Christ and I want to help others find the same joy that I have found.
