Hi I'm Bowen W. Huntsman

Idaho is home. I worked at the Idaho National Laboratory. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

As a youth I was raised on a farm. I served a 2 year mission in the Southern States. I graduated from Brigham Young University and then served my country 4 years in the Air Force as a Medical Service specialist. My wife and I have been blessed with 5 wonderful children and their posterity. I was employed at the Idaho National Laboratory as a safety professional. I worked as an Industrial Hygienist primarily, and later I and others lead the laboratory to national recognition as a Star Site in the Voluntary Protection Program (Safety Excellence). I volunteered with the HeadStart program while in the military. I participated in the Boy Scouts of America for years . I with others taught Farm Safety to local elementary and middle schools. I enjoy gardening very much and have become a Master Gardener.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a family of 10 children as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a toddler I was healed through the power of God from the crippling disease called Bulbar Polio. At the age of 8, I was baptized and confirmed. In my heart I have always known that this is the Church of Jesus Christ, but like many others, I too needed to pray and ask my Heavenly Father regarding it's truthfulness and have received that confirming feeling that it is true. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and have come to know that it is the word of God and it's contents is meant to bless our lives and sustain us in our life's journey. I also know the Bible to be the word of God and both of these books jointly testify that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of this world. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and I am humbled to be a recipient of His many blessings.

How I live my faith

In the community I have had the opportunity to serve on a local Library Board for 7 years. I have also participated as an adult in the Boy Scouts of America for years. In our local congregation I have been a home teacher, a teacher of youth and adults, plus have had leadership positions that have involved the entire congregation. My wife and I have had the opportunity to participate with single adults (35 years and older) in providing monthly dinners and social activities for them. My wife and I have also had the blessing of serving as clergy at the Bonneville County Jail for the past 3 years, an opportunity we have thoroughly enjoyed.
