Hi I'm Skylar

I've grown up in California. I'm an Eagle Scout, a straight A student, a brother, and a son. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated high school and college simultaneously as a Valedictorian with my Associate's Degree with Honors in Natural Science. I am an Eagle Scout with six Eagle Palms. I will be serving a two year mission in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, beginning on December 3rd, 2014. I am a son of two loving and lighthearted parents and have one sister. I love sports of all sorts, but I especially love basketball. Watching movies and hanging out with friends are two of my favorite things to do. I also like to exercise. After my mission I will go to Brigham Young University to pursue the degree of Biophysics and ultimately a worthwhile and interesting career. As a missionary, I would love to answer any questions through my only means of contact: skylar.van.horne@myldsmail.net.

Why I am a Mormon

The principles of the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stripped down are really just guidelines to living a more fulfilling, healthier, and happier life. If one decides to delve deeper into Christ's messages and His true gospel, then they will eventually discover the incredibly unique promptings of the Holy Ghost. It is through the warm and comforting feelings of the Holy Spirit that I have come to know the truth of this religion and every aspect of it. There is no denying the power of these feelings that have often brought me to tears as I listen to, or bear testimony of, this gospel's many truths and pieces of wisdom. The knowledge I have of where I came from, why I am here, and where I am going is comforting beyond description as well. The blessings I have already so luckily obtained by being a member of this church are immeasurable in number and value. I cannot say how much my life has changed for the better by becoming truly converted to this religion rather than relying on the testimony of others for so long.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being as involved in charity and service as I possibly can, striving to uphold my high standards and morals, and magnifying my callings. I do my best to be a good example to others so that they will be more open to the truths of the gospel and have a desire to better their own lives through Jesus Christ. I use my God-given talents to uplift those around me. I continually discover the blessings of daily prayer and scripture study. I am grateful every day that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
