Hi I'm Jeshua Lorenzo Cardenas

I was born and raised in Texas. I'm an Eagle Scout serving as a missionary in Honduras. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 18 years old and an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. I enjoy sketching, reading, playing video games, sleeping, and eating.

Why I am a Mormon

The church has been a part of my life since the day I was born. My parents were both converted in their youth and have since been active members in the church. Because of them I have grown up in the church and have gained a great knowledge of the gospel. Of course it took effort on my part before I gained a testimony of the church. I actively studied the scriptures, particularly the Book of Mormon, and gave personal prayers each day in order to strengthen my faith. I attended church meetings not only on Sunday, but whenever they had meetings the youth could attend. There was no specific moment in my life where I suddenly felt that the gospel was true. As time went on it was more of a gradual realization that I have always known in my heart that the gospel was true. I know God and Jesus Christ live and that they truly do love each and every one of us. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is God's only true church on this earth and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet called to restore the Lord's gospel. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that no other book will bring you closer to God than this one. I know I'm not perfect and that I've made many mistakes in my life, but because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I know I can reach perfection so long as I am faithful and obedient to God's commandments. I will always be grateful for my Heavenly Father blessing me with being born into His only true church.

How I live my faith

I have served as a home teacher in my ward and have held various leadership positions in my church and in the scouting program. I have also participated and helped organize numerous service projects with the youth of the church and in the scouting program. Recently I did an Eagle project for the Boy Scouts of America where I recycled over 2000 books for a middle school library and then built a flowerbed in front of that same school. Basically I do the best I can to be helpful and serve others as much as I can; I will be dedicating two years of my life to constant service for my mission in Honduras. I believe service is the best way to show one's faith.

Are Mormons Christians?

Jeshua Lorenzo Cardenas
A christian is defined as someone who believes in Christ. Most people know our church as the Mormon church; however, the proper name of our church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. If everyone knew that then it would be easier for them to understand that we do believe in Christ since His name is part of the name of the church. Jesus Christ is the center and foundation of the church. As members of the church we strive to do the best we can to live by the teachings of Christ. So, yes we are Christians. Show more Show less
