Hi I'm Alix

I am a missionary. I am a world traveler. I love my family. I am a Mormon.

About Me

A little about me: I am a 22 year old college student about to serve a mission in Anaheim, California. I leave September 10th, which can't come soon enough. I love to travel. I have been to Germany, France, London, Mexico, and the Caribbean. I recently spent a semester in Russia teaching English to children there. I love being with children and helping them learn and grow. I have 5 younger siblings whom I adore, most of the time. I hope to become a teacher one day and teach 2nd or 3rd grade. I have a hard time with the gross bodily functions that seem to accompany younger children and the "I'm too cool for school" attitude of the older grades. Whichever grade I end up teaching, I'm sure I will love it. I grew up with a mom, dad, stepmom, stepdad, and a range of half, step, and full siblings. I love being a part of my family and they are the one thing I love most about my life!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon becaue I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have never had any doubts of whether or not His church and gospel are true. I find happiness and true joy in reading the scriptures, keeping the commandments, serving others, and praying. When I live my life in accordance with the gospel and attend the temple reguarly, I am able to better my life and the lives of others. I find great comfort in knowing that Heavenly Father has a plan for me and will always love me unconditionally. I do not always understand or even appreciate some of the things I am asked to do , but I know that it will always be for my good. I have a deep love and appreciation for Jesus Christ. It brings me peace and comfort to know that He was willing to sacrifice for my sins. Every time I repent, it brings me closer to Him and strengths our relationship. I love being a Mormon and knowing that I have a Heavenly Father and elder brother who are always looking out for me and know me personally!

How I live my faith

I have been living my faith for the past 22 years in small and simple ways. I have never experienced a grand show of what I believe. To be honest, sometimes I wish I was more outgoing in regards to my faith. I have always been more of a shy and quiet person. I don't like to get in people's faces about my opinion and beliefs. I am hoping that my mission will help me be more courageous. I do have an extremely strong testimony though. I live my standards through service, loving others, having a prayerful heart, and being honest. I try to be a good example to those around me. I recently served as a councelor to a youth church group. It was a little intimidating to be a leader to a group of 14-18 year olds, but ended up being an amazing experience. I learned so much from their sweet testimonies and from sharing my testimony 24/7 for a week. Teaching the youth really helped me better understand what it means to be a disciple of Christ: to always stand up for what you believe no matter how uncomfortable or unpopular it may be, to always be kind to others even when they can be annoying or mean, to never give up, and to always remember that even when we make mistakes being disciples, complete repentance is possible through the atonement.
