Hi I'm David Sell

I grew up in a dysfunctional family, I now have a family greater than I could ever dream of, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in an unstable home as my mother died when I was three years old and a father who struggled to care for his four children. We spent time in foster homes and in homes of other relatives who were able to to better care for us. At the age of 10 my grandmother took the three youngest children into her home to care for us as my father was rendered unable due to health concerns. My grandmother began taking us to church and I secretly couldn't wait until I was 18 so that I no longer had to go! But at the age of 16 I came to know for myself that Jesus Christ was the Savior and I began to grow in the hope that I could be someday break free from the cycle of dysfunction that characterized my family. Through giving my all to live the principles and precepts found in the gospel of Jesus Christ I have been blessed to have an education, a wife and four children who bless my life everyday. I owe all my happiness to the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this gospel of Jesus Christ means everything to me. All of my happiness is centered in living the gospel and striving to be more like the Savior. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides me with peace and assurance that I could not find anywhere else. Up until I was 16 years old I struggled to find a purpose to my life and I followed the crowd wherever it would lead. Because I was living with my Grandmother who I greatly loved, I obeyed her request to attend seminary when i was a Sophomore in High School. This would turn out to be a pivotal decision in my life as seminary provided me an opportunity to feel the witnessing influence of the Holy Ghost speak to my heart. It was during this time that I came to know that Jesus Christ lived and was real and that He knew me. Because I acted on what I knew and gave my best efforts to living the commandments, over time my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ grew stronger and stronger. It is now the pillar of my life and all of my activities are centered in it.

How I live my faith

I first try to live my faith at home with my wife and children. Although I falter at times, I strive to lead my home the way the Savior would. I also enjoy working with youth. I am a Released-Time Seminary Teacher by profession, which means I have the chance to discuss the scriptures and the gospel of Jesus Christ with high school students everyday. I love to see the growth in students when they come to better understand and know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is relevant and essential in their lives. As with any kind of service, I draw strength from being around them each day.
