Hi I'm Maureen

I grew up in Idaho and love the Rocky Mountains. I love to travel but there's no place like home. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The greatest joy in my life is my family, three children and my adoring husband. While my work, managing a medical office, is challenging and sometimes fun, nothing beats spending time with family. I was raised in a large family with 10 children that my parents called "his, mine, and ours" and was taught the concept that all are welcome under our roof. It is easy for me to entertain and I love to have a crowd gathered around my kitchen counter eating foods that I prepared. Together is definitely better. Tasks like working in the yard are always more fun when the family works together. I also love to travel, read, and spend time in the great outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

My birth mother died when I was less than 2 weeks old. My father died when I was a teenager. I was taught from a very young age that I am a child of God and that families can be together forever. This brought so much comfort to my devastated young heart. The choices that I made were influenced by the fact that I knew I would see them again and I wanted them to be proud of me. Today...I am a Mormon because I have felt the comfort that comes to my heart when I pray to my Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ. I felt the love of God and Jesus Christ when a baby of my own died and I didn't have the strength to go on. His gospel has given my life direction and purpose and above all, joy in the midst of hard times. I shutter to think of my life without it. I am grateful for a living prophet and his gentle words of counsel along with the Bible and the Book of Mormon. With God and Jesus Christ in my life, I have no reason to feel lost or alone. I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love to serve. I have had many opportunities to volunteer at the schools that my children attended and I have also spent the last 4 years tutoring teenagers who have needed extra help with school work. I currently work with the cub scout group in my ward congregation. I am the wolf den leader and naturally smile when I think about the fun, energetic boys that I work with. Serving is such an integral part of how I live my faith. It gives my life more rewarding purpose and helps me feel closer to Jesus Christ. It is easy to get discouraged with life when I am thinking more of myself than others but serving always helps me see how blessed I am.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

No. The Church does not endorse political parties. Political parties are an organization created by man. Our Heavenly Father only has one organization on this earth and that is His Church. He does not endorse one political party over another any more than he would endorse one high school football team over another. We are all His children, recipients of His love no matter what political party we choose to endorse or what high school we attend. We are not perfect and our political parties are not perfect but we can become perfected through Jesus Christ. Politics are very important because we believe in obeying the laws of the land. It is necessary to be involved in and educated on current issues so that we can do our part to keep the laws in harmony with gospel principles. For me, a vote for a particular candidate is more about their platform in relation to gospel principles and not about the party they belong to. Show more Show less
