Hi I'm Madison

I am a missionary in Rome, Italy because of the joy I have from being a Mormon!

About Me

I have lived in Utah, Missouri, Ohio, Washington, D.C. and now North Carolina. My family moved a lot because my dad served in the Army for a while and he also attended medical school in Missouri. I am halfway through my sophomore year at BYU, but I will be serving a proselyting mission in Italy so I will return to school in 2016! I play the violin, piano and organ and I love to sing. I played the violin in the BYU Symphony. I love sports! I ran hurdles and swam throughout high school, but I have played almost every sport at some point. I love spending time with others and sharing my talents!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to a family who were already members of the Church, so I was baptized when I was 8 like most others who are also born into member-families. I was taught in my home the principles of Christ's gospel, However, as I grew and matured, I knew that I needed to really gain a testimony of the Church and I knew that I needed to have my own personal conversion to Christ and His gospel. I needed to pray and gain a testimony for myself, and by doing so I needed to let that change my heart and create a deep desire to always follow Christ. As a teenager, I sought constantly for that conversion. It didn't come all at once, but instead it came "line upon line, precept upon precept" (Isaiah 28:10, 2 Nephi 28:30) until I was truly converted-and I am still deepening my conversion! I continue to do so everyday of my life. I feed my testimony and my faith as I pray to Heavenly Father and read the scriptures every day! As a result, I have grown to love the gospel of Jesus Christ so much. I have learned what it means to me personally and because of that, my desire to live a righteous life increases with my knowledge. I am truly converted in my heart-I love the gospel and my Savior Jesus Christ. My knowledge isn't outstanding, but it doesn't have to be in order to be converted. Serving a mission in Italy has helped me deepen my conversion and my devotion to my Savior. There is nothing else like it-serving the Savior with all my heart, might, mind and strength. I have learned that the only true and right way is by living the true and restored gospel and by receiving the saving ordinances available through Christ's church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, that has the true and restored authority to act in God's name. There is no other path to "peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come."

How I live my faith

In high school as one of the only members in my church, I shared my beliefs with my friends both through my words and through my actions. People noticed something different in me because of the way I acted and the activities I would or would not participate in. I led my track and swim team in prayers before meets would start and I stood as an example of honesty and integrity in school work. I was always the girl who wore a one piece bathing suit and who didn't go to the parties with everyone else. I took the unfortunate situations of the world around me and turned them into opportunities to share my faith with others! As a college student at Brigham Young University, I continued to share my faith, this time more with other members of the church because nonmembers were not as common. I was the president of the women in my congregation. I continued to reach out to my friends who weren't members and I shared my beliefs through social media. I went to church every Sunday, even though my parents were not there. It was my choice and I went to grow my faith and to help strengthen others. I am also now a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and am serving in Rome, Italy for a year and a half. In Italy, I am sharing the message of the true and restored gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth! Nothing has brought me greater joy than serving among the people of southern Italy. It has strengthened my testimony even more that I know that God lives and His Son, Jesus Christ. Through Jesus Christ and ONLY through him will we return to live with our Heavenly Father! That is the good news!
