Hi I'm Evan

I think life should always be exciting. I love skiing, longboarding, kayaking and slacklining. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I attended school at BYU for a year and loved it. I had the oppurtunity to ski almost every week, camp out for football games, and sleep in snow caves. Now I am out serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Mendoza Argentina. It is a totally different world, but I love it. Instead of running around doing cool things for me, I am doing cool things for others. I´m trying my best to serve others, and bring them to better know their Savior Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I´m a Mormon because I love being happy. Life can be hard, very hard, but the church has made it so I can also be positive. I have a wonderful group of people that help and support me in my church. I also have a knowledge about where I came from, why I´m here, and where I´m going. The most important thing I have gained from being a member of this church is the knowledge that I can be with my family forever. It can be devistating to lose someone, and thankfully I haven´t lost any of my immediate family, but I have the knowledge that if something happens I can see them again. Without out the knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ I know I would not be as happy as I am now.

How I live my faith

Right now I am living my faith by serving a mission. I have left my family, friends, and hobbies for 2 years so that I can help others. I have faith that by doing this the Lord will bless me, bless my family, and bless those that I am helping here in Argentina. Before the mission I lived my faith a little differently. I had a church calling, or assignment, of a monday night activity leader. I had the oppurtunity to help plan activities such as BBQ´s, ice skating, and pumpkin carving competitions for other church members at BYU. It wasn´t always easy to make time for this with classes, but somehow I also had time for both. The Lord knows what we have the capicity to do, and having a calling in the church made me realize the capacity I have.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Evan
As members of the Church we have the desire to help all of Gods children, not just those that are members of the Church. We strive to mirror the example of Jesus Christ and show charity, the pure love of Christ, unto all. The Church as an organization spends millions of dollars to help the poor, and the needy, and individual member spend their time, money and effort trying to help as well. The Church has called over 80 thousand missionaries with the purpose of serving and uplifting all, not just members of the Church. Show more Show less
