Hi I'm Derik Scott

I was born in Texas, but I grew up in many places, including Colorado and England among others, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I used to be incredibly shy. I didn't speak at all before my fourth year of life, and then very little. I was pretty introverted. Due to a jubilee activity I was able to take part in I discovered I loved to sing. I'm a counter-tenor, which means I can sing the female parts as well as the male parts. I very much enjoy doing this as well. Song is a talent I have come to love, and singing is very special to me. I have been blessed very much in my life, but I have struggles too. I have a myriad of physical problems, which I will not share here, and these I am grateful for because it helped me to discover a love of the arts. I don't know what I wish to do with my life yet, but I'm on my way.

Why I am a Mormon

I felt it. That is pretty much all there is to it. I don't have some fancy conversion story, I was born with both parents members of this church. I did not however believe in this immediately. After a lot of prayer, reading the Book of Mormon and the Bible, and fasting, as well as many hours attending church and seminary, I discovered for myself through the spirit that this gospel is true. Here it is: I gained and have a testimony that God, our heavenly father loves each and every single one of us. He sent his only begotten, Jesus Christ, to the earth to atone for our sins and save us. He gave us revelation in the past through his prophets, whose works are recorded in the bible and the Book of Mormon, and continues to give us revelation today through prophets and apostles. Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and he translated the Book of Mormon by the authority he received from god. Since his time, we have had many prophets and each and every one has been a true prophet. The counsel we receive from these individuals, as well as the counsel we receive to ourselves through the power of the spirit, should be followed, for it is good.I testify of the truth of the Book of Mormon and the Bible, and I testify of all of these things to you, and I say this, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving a mission in Reynosa Mexico. That is a pretty good indicator of how i live my faith. ;)
