Hi I'm Jonathon Hales

I was raised in Utah. I love to learn. I've been a Mormon all my life

About Me

I love to learn, and I love to compete. Something that's combined these two passions of mine is the competitive world of Chess. I played in the High School national championship tournament in Wisconsin in 2013, and I loved the people I got to meet. In school I always loved Math, and my junior year I got a perfect score on the free response section of the BC Calculus AP test, and I've always tested in the top 25 for my grade in the state every year. I love music and have played Piano almost as long as I could walk, and Clarinet for almost seven years. I love the spirit that music can bring. I play competitive Ultimate Frisbee with my old High School, and a local club team. And I love attending my Sunday meetings every week, to provide spiritual instructions and insights.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised LDS, and for a while, I didn't know the church was true for myself. I simply accepted that other important people in my life knew that it was true. As I read the scriptures I felt a desire to know for myself if what I had been told my whole life was correct. Was Joseph Smith a prophet? Did he see God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ? Was The Book of Mormon true? All of these things I asked myself, and I got the feelings that everyone always talked about. The warmth in my entire body at that exact moment was undeniable, and now I know with with absolute confidence that Jesus is the Christ, and that he died because of his love for me, and all of humanity.

How I live my faith

One unique calling I've had the privilege to serve in is as a youth family history consultant. I've gotten to help members of our ward and stake find names to take with them on Pioneer Trek, as well as update and correct stories on Family Search. I know that as we prepare to bring names to the Temples of the Lord that we do our fellow brothers and sisters in the gospel a great service, and make friends for the eternities.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?
