Hi I'm Braden DeFreese

I grew up in Utah. I love motorcycles, and Basketball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love shooting guns, playing sports, and riding motorcycles. I also love to read, and try new foods. I am currently serving a two year mission in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in Utah can be hard for a kid who was raised in the church, because you are constantly surrounded by it. Almost everyone at my school was a mormon, and almost everyone I met was too. So I didn't have a firm belief in this church when I was younger because I had nothing to compare it too. But as I got older, I started getting more independent, as kids do, and making my own choices, both good and bad. It was then that I could not only see the difference, but I could feel the difference the gospel made in my life. As you live the principles of the gospel you feel different, because you are different. Nobody in this church tells you to take their word for it. Because you don't have to. If you want to know, really know, if the church is true; Ask God. Read the Book of Mormon, Pray to know if it's true, and you'll get the same answer I did. That the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is indeed true. That the Book of Mormon is true. And that god knows each and every one of us induvidually, and loves us unconditionally. This is my testimony, This, is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Because of my faith in Jesus Christ, there are things I don't do, and there are things I do different. Some things I don't do include: drink alcohol, smoke tobacco, take any illegal drugs, drink coffee or tea, just to name a few. But more important are the things I "do" do. Such as: going to church every week, praying to God every day, searching the scriptures to understand Gods word, and serving my fellow man. I believe that as I live my faith in this way, I can live a happier life, and I know God will bless anyone who tries to follow the example of Jesus Christ.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Braden DeFreese
The Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is not a new concept. We can see throughout the Bible, many restorations of the gospel. God loves his children, because of this fact, he reaches out to them in love by calling another prophet to preach his gospel to his children when they are ready to receive him. After Jesus Christ was ascended into heaven and his apostles were scattered or killed, there was no one called of God to lead Christ's church anymore. Another Restoration was needed. And the Book of Mormon was given to man as convincing evidence of the truthfulness of that Restoration. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Braden DeFreese
You can know Mormonism is true the same way I found out. They same way God promises you can. By asking your heavenly father in sincere prayer, then looking and listening for his answer in the Book of Mormon. In James Chapter 1 verse 5 it says "if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of god, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him." So apply this scripture to you. You lack the knowledge of whether or not the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. Ask of god, he giveth to all men liberally! It may not be an immediate answer, but as you read the Book of Mormon and pray sincerely to your father in Heaven, he will answer you. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Braden DeFreese
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the single most important event in the history of the world. When Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, he took upon himself the sins of everyone who has ever lived, and everyone who will live. Through that suffering in the garden and upon the cross, Christ enabled us to be forgiven of all our sins through repentance. It was necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life so he could "loose the bands of death" (Alma 7:12) through His Resurrection. What this all means is that because He took upon himself our sins through his suffering in the Garden and on the Cross, we can be forgiven of our sins. And because of His death and Resurrection, we too will one day be resurrected. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Braden DeFreese
The message the missionaries share is of great value and importance to everyone. They teach the teachings of Jesus Christ, and invite those who will listen, to follow Jesus Christ in their lives. They seek to build your faith in Christ and invite you to come to know him better through things like prayer, reading the holy scriptures, attending church services, and other things that help you to do this. The missionaries are there to help you. They will teach you principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that apply specifically to you and your situation. No matter where we are in life, no matter what our struggles may be, the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ can help. Show more Show less

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Braden DeFreese
In Hebrews 12:9 we learn that we have not only the Father of our flesh, which is our earthly father, but also a Father of our spirits, who is God, the one who created our spirits. So all mankind is composed of both a physical body, and an immortal spirit. Some refer to our spirits as our soul. So since our Spirit is housed in our physical bodies, what affects one, can affect the other. Things that are spiritually harmful like pornography, have been proven to affect our physical brain in a negative way. And things that are harmful to our bodies like drugs or Alcohol, can lead to spiritual damage, like depression. So by taking care of our bodies, we are also taking care of our spirits. When we stay away from physically harmful things like drugs & alcohol, and instead eat healthy and exercise, we can feel the Spirit of God more abundantly in our lives. And as we learn in Galatians 5:22 the fruits of the spirit are "love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith" just to name a few. I know taking care of our bodies is important for our spiritual and our physical well being. Show more Show less
