Hi I'm Robert Dawson Jr

I was born in Newport News Virginia, and have lived all over the states. I am currently serving a full time mission.

About Me

I love the outdoors! I also love music. I think if I could create a place where you could be hiking with cool theme music playing around you... I would do that! I love to snowboard(even though I'm really not that good). I sometimes feel like a jack of all trades, master of none. I play violin, guitar, and piano good enough to not kill my neighbors ears. But I am far from winning a Grammy. I also love to play really any sport. I love to write, read, and take pictures. I come from bring the oldest of 8 kids, and I couldn't love my family more. I am currently serving a full time mission in Federal Way Washington. Something that most people can't usually tell about me until I tell them is that I was home schooled. My awesome Mom took it upon herself to teach all 8 of us kids! We had plenty of "real life" integration though from school sports, choir, seminary, and even some college classes. My dream is to be a pilot and a father. With God's help it all is possible!

Why I am a Mormon

I owe so much to my parents, my bishop, my seminary teacher, and to BYU Vocal point. I was not planning on serving a full time mission until I went to a Vocal Point concert with my friend who was about to leave on his mission. Up until that time I was almost adamant that I was not going to serve. I even told my stake president who was our home teacher that I was not going to serve. But God is good and knows how to reach us in our hardened and unteachable state. So he spoke to me through young men who were barely older than me, who were singing and having the time of their lives, and who were all returned missionaries. When I saw their example and that they were what I wanted to be like, it clicked. I realized the impact that their missions had had on them and that they were now righteous, honorable, fun men that became my role models. Their music and the way they were living their lives touched me and has changed my life. I always have questions about doctrinal things and how it all fits together, but I have learned that there is far to much here for me to leave. I would lose big time if I was not an active member of the Church. There are always thing that make you question. But the bottom line for me is that this makes me into that man that I want to be. This gives me positive support, feedback, and guidance. There are good people here doing good things, and it is people like that, that I want around me and my family.

How I live my faith

Right now being a full time representative of The Savior, it can seem a lot easier to "live" the principles of the Gospel. Not so! Being a missionary comes with it's own unique challenges and way of life. I am so grateful for my father in Heaven and Jesus Christ to whom I can always look to for guidance or help. Being a missionary, I try to talk to people about what has blessed my life so much. I share(if they will let me) the essential messages that God would have them know. I can honestly say that being a member and a missionary is not easy. But anything worth doing is never easy. The things most valuable in life are those that we have to fight for. It is in those moments of "the battle" that we find out who we are, and really what we can accomplish with The Lords help.
