Hi I'm Matt

I'm California born and raised. I love my family. I love my Country. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband of nineteen years and am married to the most amazing woman! She is the love of my life and is a Supermom. I am the proud father of eight beautiful children, four boys, four girls. My kids are my hobbies. I am a child at heart (much to the chagrin of my wife) and find as many excuses to play as I can. I am a college student via the internet and a law enforcement professional by trade. I look mean, but looks can be deceiving.

Why I am a Mormon

I was, what my generation refers to as a high school jock. I didn't know anything about God. On one occasion, I was at a friends house who was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It so happened that the missionaries were also there. On the TV was a church video which interested me. After the video, I approached the missionaries to ask them if they had anything I could read. They smiled to each other, and presented me with The Book of Mormon. Through meetings with the missionaries, I was told of our Heavenly Father’s Plan of Salvation. How Jesus was chosen to come to earth and be our savior. They said the bible was a record of God’s dealings with the inhabitants of Jerusalem and those living in the East, and that the Book of Mormon was a record of God’s dealings with His children in the Americas. They taught me how to pray. I took seriously the missionaries' challenge to read and to pray. I knelt next to my bed, looked at the prayer guide the missionaries gave me and prayed. I spoke the words audibly. When I finished, I laid on my bed staring up at the ceiling. I recall thinking to myself, “that prayer was WEAK!” I continued to lie there looking up at my ceiling. I humbled myself, and spoke audibly again, “God, I just need to know if your there, and if you love me…” I was immediately overcome by that same feeling I had when watching the video and while meeting with the missionaries only it was more powerful. I felt as though God Himself was in my room embracing me! I knew He lived! I knew he loved me! I knew what the missionaries were teaching me was true. And, like Jesus, I wept.

How I live my faith

I love to serve every chance I get, especially if it includes teaching youth about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love to teach and share my feelings about my Savior. I am honored and amazed to know that I am my Heavenly Father's son and strive to make Him proud of me in all I do. I seek his support each morning before I go about my day and check in with Him at night to apologize where I messed up. I love my wife and am lost without her. I thrive on building a home together with her and can't imagine an eternity without her.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Matt
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the supernal gift of God to mankind to reconcile us with our Father in Heaven. Through Christ's Atonement, death was conquered, the price of my sins was paid, and I can choose to repent and be forgiven..."though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be wool."
