Hi I'm Marie

I live in Atlanta, Georgia. I love spending time with people - especially my big family! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a young married woman and am working as a nanny. I love spending time with my family and friends - doing pretty much anything! I grew up singing and dancing and still love to do those things. I love playing outside and exploring new cities. Anything I can learn about new cultures and places is fascinating to me. I wish I had a better memory so that I could fill my brain with as much information as possible! I enjoy reading - especially on a cold winter's day. I've recently found a desire to get into decorating and crafting, even though I'm not very creative in that area. But I do love photography and capturing moments in my life to treasure.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to grow up in a family who taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ in everything we did. I remember a few occasions when I couldn't find my mom at home. I finally opened the door to her room and saw her kneeling in fervent prayer at her bedside. I don't know what she was praying for, but I knew then and know now that she has a personal relationship with God. She taught me that God listens to us and answers our prayers, without needing to say a word. Even though I grew up in a home that taught me these amazing principles of the gospel, I came to know of their truthfulness on my own. I worked to read my scriptures, pray, go to church, and keep the commandments on my own. I learned that as I did these things, I felt the spirit of God in my life. We all know that life brings challenges, but I know that as we lean on the Lord and come closer to Him, we will be blessed. I know that as we keep His commandments, we will blessed with His spirit and will be guided in our lives. I know that God lives and knows and loves us individually and personally. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. I know that He suffered for our sins, and He also suffered for our pains, our sicknesses, our difficulties. I know that as we rely on that atonement, that He will succor us. He will forgive us of our sins and lift us from our burdens. I know that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. I know that because I have read it and I have prayed to know that it is true. I know that God answers prayers. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God who was the means by which the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was restored on the earth in 1830. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet on the earth today. I know that he receives direct revelation from God and as we follow his council, we will be blessed. And I know these things because I have learned them for myself. I know we can all have our own testimonies through seeking truths out.

How I live my faith

I love the ward that we are living in right now! There are so many different kinds of people, yet we all can gather together and join in worship every week. Right now I teach Sunday School to the youth in our ward. I never knew that 17 year old kids could be quite so intimidating! The kids I get to teach each week, though, are truly amazing. I learn from their faith and experiences every time they choose to share. They have the best questions and are so sincere. They each have overcome obstacles in their lives already, and they have grown stronger because of their faith in the Lord. As a teacher, I want my Sunday School students to know how much God loves them. We are all sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father who wants us to live with Him again. When we know and recognize whose we are - our potential is divine.
