Hi I'm Ruth

My name is Ruth. I've lived in rainy England all my life. I'm a sports enthusiast & I'm preparing to serve a mission.

About Me

I'm Ruth and I'm a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm 18 years old and I live in the North-West of England. I'm a people person, super bubbly and always willing to help. My hobbies include swimming, baking and surprisingly cleaning. I'm blessed with the ability to learn and speak new languages easily and have a very strong interest in current world affairs. I enthuse in all kinds of sports from just going to the gym, to swimming and netball. I'm also a budding traveller, I love to visit new places and experience new cultures. I hope to be able to serve a mission in the coming years as I know the joy that I discovered from learning about the Restored True Church on this earth.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon as I strongly believe in the power he has to guide people to the true church. I continuously follow His example and strive to be more Christ-like each day as I know that's what He wants. I know that this is the true church and I love sharing the Gospel with my family, friends and strangers whom I do not know. I testify that prayers are really answered and can guarantee that if you sincerely get down on your knees and pray for something that He will answer them without hesitation for He loves us all. I testify that the church was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith and that He translated the golden plates into what we know as the Book of Mormon. I love the Plan of Salvation as I know where I'm going to end up should I continue to lead a righteous life. The Plan of Salvation really is the Plan of Happiness as I know that when the time comes I will be able to live with my family once more on the other side of the veil. I have a strong testimony of the Restoration of the Gospel and admire the courage and faith that Joseph Smith showed as he prayed (as per James 1:5) about which Church he should join. He remained strong even though he was not well supported and people from other Churches would mock him and criticise his recount of the first vision. I firmly believe that Joseph Smith became the Prophet and with help and guidance from Heavenly Father he helped to spread the good word.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by committing to church every week. I love attending Church meetings as I always come home with something new I've learnt and reassured knowledge that this really is the true church, with the fullness of the Gospel at hand. Being an only member of my family, sometimes it's extremely difficult to keep going, however I always know that Heavenly Father, through the power of the Holy Ghost is my constant companion, provided I stay true to my faith. I have a calling in my ward. I'm a Family History Consultant, in which I'm blessed with the opportunity to teach and advise other people with discovering their ancestors, helping to do work such as indexing and showing people how to use technology to do so.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Mormons believe that we are on this earth for a reason. We are given a physical body and a life to live for many purposes. As part of Heavenly Fathers plan, we are all born into families which provide us with comfort and love just as Our Father would. On earth we are given opportunity to choose (agency.) What we choose is up to us as individuals but more often than not the Holy Spirit will help guide us onto the right path, the path of good works. On this earth are many trials we can face and out of everything, providing we go about it the right way we will gain more Christ-like attributes. God wants us to progress and by gaining these attributes we are forever becoming like Him. As part of his plan we have the opportunity to be sealed to our families so we can remain with them for eternity, not just until the end of this earth life. We are all individuals and Heavenly Father loves us all which is why he sent us here, to one day be with Him again. Show more Show less
