Hi I'm Alex Magre

I'm French and American. I play rugby. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I was born in Vermont to french parents. I grew up speaking french at home, and english everywhere else. I consider myself lucky to be able to speak two languages so fluently. Growing up with two cultures seemed normal to me, and I would often blend the two cultures together. I have three older sisters, and two older brothers. I am much closer to my older brothers because I am much closer in age with them. I always looked forward to going to a field and playing lacrosse, or soccer with my brothers. I love rugby. I didn't start playing rugby until sophomore year in high school. I started to play because one of my friends told me that rugby was better than lacrosse and that I would never be good. I wanted to prove him wrong. I love rugby because of the physical and mental component. I have also made great friendships with fellow rugby teammates.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, so being a Mormon isn't something new to me. I relied on my parents and what they believed. It wasn't until I read the Book of Mormon by myself that i knew that this church is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I have also had many experiences where I know that God was watching over us. One of these experiences includes a time when my father had lost his job. Our family moved about seven times in a year, including moving back to France. Finally, after a year of searching for work, and praying for help from God, my Father had found a Job. I know that God was watching over my family, and that the situation could have been much worse. I know God loves us. He wants us to return to live with again. I know that Christ suffered, and died for the everyone's sins.I know that we have a prophet, who is a messenger of God on the earth today. I also know that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

For the past two years, I was a special needs mutual youth counselor. Every Thursday night I got together with my special needs partner, or buddy. Here we worked on Boy Scout of America merit badges, and developing other skills. I always looked forward to going and meeting up with him because he always brought a positive attitude. I live my faith by going and serving a mission. The church asks all 18 year old men, to go and serve as a missionary for our church for two years. We drop our social lives, schooling, and work to go and serve God for two years. This is completely our decision though. I have been called to be a missionary in the Benin Cotonou mission speaking French. Lastly, I live my faith by doing the little things. Reading my scriptures, saying my prayers, and going to church. Sometimes we try and do the big things, but we often forget to do the little things. I love to read my scriptures. I always learn so much about God, and I always feel closer to Christ.
