Hi I'm Lynnette Smith

I was born with Cerebral Palsy. I am a Mormon- A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am happy to be me

About Me

Being teased for the way I walked and talked my third grade teacher Mrs Startsman told me I had two choices in life. I could let the teasing and unkind words destroy me or I could choose to be my own kind of beautiful and show the world who I was. After such loving words and a knowledge that I was a daughter of God (my parents taught me since I was born) the choice was easy to make. I have always given my all. I graduated from Utah State University with a bachelors in Early Education and have worked much in my field of expertise. I served a LDS Misson to Arcadia California and since have married my best friend in the LDS Manti Temple and together are raising two amazing boys. Dreams do come true because I am living mine. I love to crosstich, scrapbook and my favorite is working in the yard

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into a family that the gospel was taught and lived by the example of my parents. I know a lot of my conversion to the gospel is because of the Cerebral Palsy I have. As mentioned earlier my parents taught me that I was a daughter of God, and that he has a purpose and plan for me. I knew I was different than many others physically, but I have been OK with that because I have had to turn to him when I felt so alone. I know that one day I will be made whole and looking back from eternity this short experience will have been for my own good. I love my Father in Heaven- His plan is so perfect. I am here to gain faith and grow to be like him. Of course He has not put us here without help. There is so much He has given us. We have living prophets. A young man by the name of Joesph Smith was searching to know what church to join as there were so many. That was his only intent, but was such a humble young man that God knew Joseph was teachable and through Joseph God's church is once more. Families can be Forever and the Lord has shown us how we can. Marriage between a man and women that is sealed in his Temple which is God's House here on Earth. I have often wonder why me? Why have I been so blessed to know the truth when so many don't and are searching. I do not think I will know the answer to that while here in mortality. I do know that because I am so blessed I have a responsibility to share what I know helping those who are sincerely seeking for truth. Living the Gospel brings me great happiness

How I live my faith

I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints. I am a Sunday School teacher as well as a Young Women Adviser. When I was young my mother taught me a lesson I will forever cherish. If I was sad, bored or feeling sorry for myself mom would not just suggest, but enforce I went out of my way to serve someone else. At first I would complained until I realized how serving somebody else made me feel happier I was. I begin looking for ways to serve and how I could help make other's burden's lighter As a mother I am teaching my boys the lesson mom taught me. Right know they are in the complaining stage, but by the time they finish they are happy. I believe strongly in living what I profess to believe.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

Lynnette Smith
I love the Book of Mormon. A tender mercy that the Lord loves and cares for us. Written by prophets who testify of Christ. Another Testament. In The scriptures state that “in the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established” (2 Cor. 13:1; D&C 6:28; see also Deut. 19:15). Written for our day to help us through the things we face. Joseph Smith said that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.” (History of the Church, 4:461.) Reading- studying and pondering the Book of Mormon brings a peace that the world cannot give. I feel the Book of Mormon is the rock the fortifies our family against the evils of the world Show more Show less
