Hi I'm Linda

I'm from Nevada. I love music. I am going to serve a mission soon. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Music is a big part of my life. I enjoy playing instruments, specifically, the ukulele and guitar (I'm learning piano). I also enjoy playing sports. I especially like playing goal keeper in soccer. Along with these hobbies, I recently earned an AA. I am hoping that this achievement will help me continue my education and have a career after serving a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am not perfect. There was a point in my life where I thought I had to be perfect, but I soon realized that this is impossible. I became frustrated and angry. Sometimes I would just go through the motions and not think about anything I was being taught in church. Eventually I decided I needed help and that I should stop being so stubborn and frustrated. So I turned to God. I remember sitting under a tree and pouring my heart out to Him. It was an incredible experience. I realized that He loves me and that I'm not going to be perfect (at least not for a looooong time), but because Jesus Christ came and suffered for me, I can be better. I have a chance at being better each and every day and not have to worry about my past mistakes and sins weighing me down. Since that experience I have had various times where I feel like I was stuck in a spiritual hurricane. One specific time, I had all these questions, doubts, and concerns and I couldn't seem to find any answers that were satisfying. Day by day I kept trying to keep the faith. I read my scriptures, prayed, and pondered. Still nothing. At this point I've been mentally struggling for months and nothing seemed to be coming together. Finally I decided to put my trust in the Lord and know that He truly knows all. I put my concerns aside and just asked if the gospel was true. I got my answer and even though I still don't fully understand the answers to any of my original questions, I know everything will be all right. I know that God lives and loves us deeply. I know that He sent His Son to suffer and die for me and for you. Through this suffering He understands us completely, all of our pain, our sadness, and our sins. What is even better is that He knows how to overcome them! Through Him we can overcome anything because He has already done it and knows how to. We just need to trust Him and follow Him, even if it is hard.

How I live my faith

Participating in the church organization is interesting in that there are lots of opportunities to be a leader and a supporter. Recently I was part of the leadership in the women's organization in my church group. There I helped lead the other ladies (I was primarily in charge of the teachers for Sunday) and I supported the woman that was over me. I also am part of the ward missionaries, which are members that work hand in hand with the normal missionaries. Here I learn more about what missionaries do and how I can help everyone come to know the truth. These positions (along with the other positions I held) helped me to focus on others before myself. I learned how to step up and be the example that my peers need and when to step down and let another person shine. Each position in the church is set up so that we can teach people about Christ in an organized way. It is amazing to see how people's lives are blessed by learning more about Christ regardless of previous beliefs.
