Hi I'm Spencer Hanson

I grew up in Idaho. I am a missionary in the Texas Lubbock Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a loving home in the wonderful potato country of Idaho! I spent most of my life playing with my family. We were in a rural area and so it was easiest just to be with the ones that were always around you and you already loved. I love playing music. I have tinkered on old pianos and have a dream of restoring one myself. I have already gone through a year of college and hope to do physical therapy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a loving family that were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (The Mormons). They taught me about this religion. Over time I was taught by the Holy Ghost about the truth of what my family taught me. While in my freshman year of High School, I had an experience that helped me know that I knew that being a Mormon was right for me. I was enrolled in a religion class on The Book of Mormon at Seminary. I read the Book of Mormon completely through. I then prayed to know if what I read was true. If the book I read was scripture from God. What came next was an undeniable answer from the Holy Ghost. The thought came to mind "You already know it's true". I regularly continue to receive confirmations from the Holy Ghost that I am in the right place. Everything makes sense. Things in the Bible that may seem contradictory make sense to me. I feel peace. I feel Joy. I am glad to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am currently doing missionary work in the West Texas/East New Mexico area. Each day I am learning more and more about Christlike love and service. I love the opportunity that I have as a missionary to be an instrument in the hands of God. I have helped some of his children come to a knowledge of The Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I take no credit in this. Without God, I would not have been able to know how to help the wonderful people here in the south. I would have accomplished next to nothing.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Spencer Hanson
No. Young adult men are encouraged to serve a mission, but in the end it is voluntary and up to them if they want to go. Young adult women also go on missions and their contributions are greatly valued. You will also see some "Senior Missionaries". These are senior people that are retired and have chosen to go on a mission. Show more Show less
