Hi I'm Abagail Hansen

I am a huge fan of The Killers. I will be serving a mission in the Dominican Republic Santo Domingo West Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have three younger brothers who keep me laughing and who I love more than they will ever realize. I have the best parents in the entire world. I thank my Heavenly Father everyday I was sent to them. I enjoy playing lacrosse and frisbee, reading, slalom skiing, soaking up sun and watching the Harry Potter movies. I will attend Brigham Young University Hawaii and hope to major in Foreign Languages. I am preparing to serve an 18 month mission in the Dominican Republic, for which I am so excited!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church. It is all I've ever known in the religious catergory, but even I had to have my own conversion to the Gospel. Growing up in the Church is a blessing, but there comes a point where after hearing all the lessons since birth, a person must choose to believe it or not for himself. No longer would relying on the testimonies of my mom and dad cut it as I entered into the upper grades of public schooling and had people questioning my faith. I knew that I needed to find my own testimony of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and everything else I had ever been taught!! I was quickly reminded of Joseph Smith and his own determination for truth at my age. So I decided to follow his lead in reading James 1:5. Ask. That is exactly what I did. I knelt down that evening before bed and prayed earnestly to know that the Church was true. I was soon answered with a quite feeling that I needed to read the Book of Mormon for myself. That night I started what became the best book I have ever read. Sure I had read it before, but this time I read it with a desire in my heart to know of it's truth. As I finished the last chapter, I knew without a doubt the Gospel is true. Joseph Smith was an inspired man who restored the truth to these latter days. Heavenly Father loves me and knows me, He understands my hardships and rejoices in my triumphs. Jesus Christ is my older brother who suffered for not only the sins of the world but the despair, pain, and sadness. He died on the cross for me and you, for everyone. Through Heavenly Father's infinite love and Christ's sacrifice repentance is possible. The Book of Mormon is inspired doctrine for today. I love the Gospel with all my heart.

How I live my faith

I love the Gospel and strive to live it in every aspect of my life. I invite friends to dances and welcome opportunites to explain to them why I chose to live certain decisions in my life, such as choosing not to drink coffee or tea. I got the chance this year to help organize a conference for the youth in the Church in my area. It included over 600 young men and young women. I flourished in my ability to have my own testimony grow as I worked to help the testimonies of the youth grow as well. I love seeing the Gospel grow in someone's life. This desire is what led me to my decision to serve an 18 month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I will have an entire year and a half dedicated to service and teaching. I am so excited for the opportunity to serve those of the Dominican Republic and have developed such a love for them already. I prepare everyday by reading my scriptures and studying the Spanish language. It will be such an adventure, but more importantly service to my Heavenly Father. I can not wait to serve my mission. Look out DR, here I come!!!!
