Hi I'm Walter

I am a Mormon and most of my ancestors for several generations were Mormons. I grew up in Idaho and Utah in the United States.

About Me

I am a retired teacher. For thirty-eight years I taught high school and college students the doctrines and history of the Mormon faith. I served a proselyting mission in Brazil and my wife and I are beginning a senior mission in August 2014. I have a large family with 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. I am a fan of sports at Brigham Young University. I have college degrees in English, American literature, and American and Mormon history.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have studied the Gospel all my life and have come to know by the powerful spirit of the Holy Ghost that the doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Mormon Church, is true. I have taken Heavenly Father at His word and have prayed for knowledge and a confirmation of the truth of these principles and have received sure answers from Him. I find in the holy scriptures, including the Book of Mormon, a consistency of these true principles. I know that the true Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to earth again and that we have a living prophet upon the earth through whom God communicates His divine will for His people today.

How I live my faith

All my life I have been a full participant in my church meetings and activities. I have especially enjoyed assignments to teach classes in priesthood meetings and in Sunday School, such as, Gospel doctrine, marriage and family relations, teaching the gospel, teachings of the prophets, temple preparation, and family history research. I have also written a biography of my great-great grandmother who was a Mormon pioneer. Also, I serve in my community as an election judge.
