Hi I'm Shelbi

I love playing volleyball and boating. I drive a truck. I'm currently serving a mission in Argentina. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I loooooove playing volleyball and all things Harry Potter. My 3 siblings are my best friends and my mom and my dad are fantastic role models. I'm attending school at BYU but I'm taking an 18-month break while I serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina. I want to be an elementary school teacher or a geologist - I'm still deciding! I'm proud of my high school team's state championship title in volleyball and my 100% score on my Drivers' Ed test. I kill my time by hanging out with friends, playing sports, eating, hiking, reading, sleeping... anything!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of my life because I know it is true. Every time I learn, every time I feel the Spirit, every time I read my scriptures, I experience the same undeniable feeling that my Heavenly Father loves me and that this is the true gospel restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. This knowledge of the truth didn't come to me all at once, however. I remember that some parts of my testimony - such as my knowledge of Joseph Smith as a true prophet - came in very distinct moments in my childhood or in my teenage years. It took time to study it out and receive an answer. On the other hand, some parts of my testimony have been there continually, such as the knowledge of God in heaven. Though I don't know every part of this gospel, I know that it is true. The Book of Mormon is true. We have living prophets today. Heavenly Father loves and knows all of his children and Jesus Christ is my Savior. Because of Him, I can be forgiven and return to my Heavenly Father and be with my family forever. This gospel blesses lives. I know all of this and more because I have prayed to God and he has sent the assurance of the sweet Spirit to let me know that this is the true gospel once again on the earth.

How I live my faith

Church is my favorite place to be on Sundays. However, if I'm not at church, I find peace and solace in reading my scriptures and praying to my Heavenly Father daily. I attend the temple regularly and gain a greater understanding of the purpose of life in doing so. My family gathers together on Monday nights to discuss the gospel of Jesus Christ and how it blesses our lives. I will be serving an 18-month mission in Argentina teaching those about the gospel of Jesus Christ - I couldn't be happier! I am so excited to share with others what makes me happy and what I know to be true!
