Hi I'm Jason

I've moved twice in 2 years. I've seen the Lord guide and protect me as I prepare for a mission to Brazil. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born in Las Vegas. I have since lived in Ohio, Connecticut, and Mass. In the past few years, I have held two part-time jobs at the same time along with being a High School student, all to prepare for college at BYU and a mission. My life has also changed completely. Recently, the church announced a change in the age at which young men may serve missions. Now that I am able to serve at age 18, I don't have to do a semester of college first. Before the age was lowered, I had never done much specifically to prepare for a mission. I had always thought about going, but it had never crossed my mind until that point. As I have prepared, I have seen the Lord's hand protecting and guiding me. I have met people and made it through situations that I couldn't have alone. Most notably, I survived a car crash on my way to an early morning seminary class. Around 6 in the morning, I was driving myself and four other tired teenagers from my church to this class. I had been tired, but I decided to drive anyways and ignored promptings to ask for help to stay awake. Near the end of our trip, I passed out. The truck I was driving hit a telephone pole, a stack of hay, a tree, and a mailbox, all of which redirected our path away from actual houses. The car was totaled, but we all walked away without a scratch. I realize not everyone is so lucky, but I know the Lord loves us all, and in this case he had a plan for everyone in that car, including me. I now serve as a missionary in Brazil.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a part of this church because I believe it is God's kingdom on Earth. It is Christ's church, and Christ leads it. It is patterned after Christ's church in the New Testament, before and in the years following his death. It was restored by Him through the Prophet Joseph Smith. It is led today through Thomas S. Monson, a modern prophet. I also know this is God's church because it does only good. Every action taken by the church is for the salvation of mankind. I am a member because I believe that this is where I can do the most good and gain salvation for myself, and help others do the same. There are so many good people in the world, but we all sin. I know that it is only through Christ, and his true gospel, that those good people can become better and to live with Heavenly Father again some day. Only by putting our faith in Christ and relying on his Atonement can we repent and be forgiven of our sins. By doing so, we can become more like Him and return to live with our Heavenly Father some day.

How I live my faith

I currently am serving a Full-time, two-year mission in Brazil. As a missionary, I strive everyday to represent Jesus Christ by helping others come unto Him and by trying to do what He would do. I spend my time teaching others about Christ, His church, His doctrine, and His commandments. I help them resolve individual concerns and take their first steps towards salvation. In addition, I serve people, both inside and out of the church. I help the people of Brazil in anything from teaching the gospel to distributing food to the needy. If something is the Lord's work, then the Lord's missionaries do it.
