Hi I'm Promise

I'm from Texas. Music is my passion. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student through BYU-Idaho's Pathway Program. I love to sing. Music is my favorite language. I was in a ten person vocal jazz choir in High School and I loved every minute of it. I also was on swim team. My stroke was the backstroke. I enjoy spending time with my family. I love to try new things and some of my favorite things to do are cook, watch old movies, swim, dance, and create things! I will be heading to Chile in September to serve an LDS mission!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church and raised by very strong and loving parents. They taught me by example and by experience about why they love this church. Like I mentioned earlier in my profile, I love music. In our church they have a period of time where they children are taught. During that period of time the children get to have a singing time. This was always my favorite part of the day. I learned much through those simple songs as a child. Their beautiful and teach our doctrine very simply. Over time, as I got older, and began to want to learn for myself if this church was correct, these song lyrics would come into my mind. They taught of simple truths and lead me to want to research each topic I had questions about. They laid a foundation for me. I knew the church was true, I had from a very young age, I just had to confirm answers to questions I had. I decided if I had a question on a certain point of doctrine that I didn't understand or wasn't sure if I believed it one-hundred percent I would study it. I would get my hands on everything the church provided about that topic. Over time I began to understand and as I prayerfully studied, the Lord taught me. I learned that I had to open up my heart to him and let him teach me, but as I did I developed a very close relationship with him. For me, conversion came slowly, and with a lot of work. But because of this I developed a close relationship with my Heavenly Father and with my Savior Jesus Christ. I am more thankful for that than I am for anything else in the world.

How I live my faith

I am in a Young Single Adult branch and I am a branch missionary! The Young Single Adult ward is for people ages eighteen to thirty-one so I get to teach people that are close to my age and wanting to learn more about our church. It's a fun calling because many of us are going through similar experiences so we are able to connect more and while I am teaching them about what I believe I am also gaining a new friend! I love it!
