Hi I'm David J Skidmore

I am a California kid born and raised!

About Me

I am an Eagle Scout, the youngest in my family of five, and I love to learn. I am a missionary serving in the Ogden Utah Mission. I will be majoring in education when I return home at my dream school. I have a happy and loving family. I prefer more of the simpler things in life and enjoy things like long car rides, music (I really really love music), cold weather, and the piano (even though I don't really play). I love to talk and be around good friends, but really who doesn't? I like to smile and love to see triumph, no matter if its mine or someone else's. I'm pretty experienced with public speaking and even though I love it, I get very nervous every time. When doing or talking about things that are near and dear to my heart I get very excited and tend tell everyone, which is probably why everyone in my high school knew I was a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know it to be the true church of God. No one forced me, no one "convinced" me. It is an answer that I came to in quiet council and prayer with my Father in Heaven. He is a real being of power. He knows me and He loves me. I have felt the Holy Ghost, His Heavenly messenger, bear witness of these very things to my soul. That knowledge has changed me forever! He cares deeply for all his children. I recognize Jesus to be the Christ, my Lord and Savior. He has paid the price of my sins, again this is something I felt to be true with all that I am. It has been confirmed to me many times in my life and I have needed that confirmation many times. It something that is difficult to describe, but to those who have felt this witness they understand it is something that only properly understood by experiencing it for themselves. The peace and love of this witness from our Heavenly Father awaits all who seek Him and ask. Obtain His gift of love, the Book of Mormon, read from it. Ask God and you will taste of this joy too.

How I live my faith

I make it a very strong point to live what I believe. As many of my friends know I am not perfect, but they are kind and forgive me. I always try to be the best person I can be. I love to, and often do, participate in my school, church, & community to make the world a happier place. I have helped in soup kitchens, courthouses, churches, schools, street cleanings, putting together care packages, service organizations and so on. Compassion and love for all men regardless of belief, life styles, or circumstances is essential to my christian faith. I strive to be like my Savior in all my hopes and dreams, and make this no secret to the people I meet. The charity I give and will continue to give will be exactly that, service with love, as free and loving as it has been given to me by my Savior Jesus Christ. As my dad has cancer, and my sister has a brain tumor, our family is well acquainted with hardship, as are many. It is our faith in Christ that keep us grounded and brings our family a joy as sweet as any I have ever seen. I know and am proof that life does not have to be easy to hold joy. I invite people everywhere to come partake and feel of this joy that is felt in Christ.
