Hi I'm Sam

I am living a life full of adventure and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Kaysville, Utah. My family moved to Merrimack, NH when I was 5 years old. We moved from New Hampshire to Idaho 8 years later, which is where my family lives now. I just completed my first year of college at Utah Valley University. I am studying Digital Media and Marketing. I plan on traveling the world adventuring and making documentaries :). I am an avid skier, snowboarded, mountain biker, hiker, and photographer. I love to be in nature. I have two siblings, one older and one younger. They are my best friends and set an awesome example for me. I am all about working hard and living life to the fullest, having fun with friends and family every chance I get.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS church. When I was in high school I decided to stop going. I didn't know what I believed and I wanted to see what else was out there. I attended other churches and really challenged my beliefs in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I prayed and felt like I never got an answer. About a year ago, I knelt in prayer and pleaded. I begged to know what I should do, what I should believe, with a completely open heart and open mind. I felt so strongly that I should go back to the LDS church. I was reluctant at first because of the negative experience I had in the past. But then I opened up the Book of Mormon. When I really read that book and REALLY prayed about it, I knew. I know. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, I know this church is true. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I have felt the spirit and felt God's infinite love and mercy. This church teaches so many amazing things that no other church does. I am so happy to know that my sins are forgiven and that as I live my life worthily, I am working towards getting back to my Heavenly Father. I know God lives. I know he loves us. I know he sent his son Jesus Christ to die for us. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that my life is exponentially better when I am living the teachings of this church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by followings the teachings and examples of the leaders of this church. I keep the commandments to the best of my ability and repent when I do not. I strive to study the scriptures and pray to my Heavenly Father daily. I try my best to have charity, the pure love of Christ. I try my best to lift others and treat them as Christ would treat them. I live with the knowledge that even when I fall short, my faith in Christ and his atonement can help me get back on track. I am an example to others and try to show my faith through my actions rather than through my words.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Sam
Full-time missions, a period of 18 months to 2 years, are optional. At the age of 18, young men are eligible to serve and are strongly encouraged to do some. Women can serve at 19 and are gladly invited to serve as well. Missionaries do not get to choose where they go. Not all members will serve full-time missions, but all members are asked to be missionaries. Missionary work is key to sharing the message of God with others. Show more Show less
