Hi I'm Caitlin

I sing and dance in operas and musicals. I am a mother with a full-time job. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am from upstate New York. I lived on Hayling Island, England for two years as a teenager and it changed my life. I received a degree in Vocal Performance from SUNY Potsdam. I love to create things: music, food, cards, gardens, though I need help with the last part! I am a mother to a sixteen-month old who is discovering how to climb. Our family likes to be in nature, be in water, and go camping in yurts.

Why I am a Mormon

I mentioned above that I lived in England for a few years. My family moved at a very pivotal time in my development; I was thirteen. I have always had a very simple and uncomplicated life (though I didn't know that at that time), so moving was a bit of a hardship for me. I struggled to make friends at first, which left me with a lot of time for personal reflection. The church community there was very small, so I sometimes asked myself why I kept going. What was keeping me there, other than my parents and brothers? I decided to do something about it and asked God. The answer came very clearly that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I knew it was true. Simple and true. Later in my life, I came to understand that my Heavenly Father knows and loves me. Me. Little Caitlin. There have been so many times that he has answered a silly little prayer that only a father would wish to answer. I know those answers aren't luck, but a manifestation of my Heavenly Father's love for me as his daughter. The gospel has blessed my life immensely. The commandments are guidelines I willingly follow because I love the One who has created them. I am my best self when I follow the commandments our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have thoughtfully laid before us.

How I live my faith

I try to give everyone the benefit of a doubt; "in the quiet heart is hidden sorrow that the eye can't see." I am able to put my musical skills to good use in our church community by playing the piano, organizing the music in the Sunday meetings, and conducting music. I also try to teach my son about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I do this through stories in the scriptures and prayer, but also through practical application, such as sharing, loving others, and caring.
