Hi I'm JJ

I'm a climber, a runner, and an engineering major. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 22 years old and going to college full time. I came back from my LDS mission about 7 months ago and have the goal to finish my bachelor's degree in civil engineering by December 2016. When I'm not in class, or not working, I'm usually rock climbing either in the gym to get stronger or outside. I love trail running, and I love being outside.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member all my life, and I've been so blessed to be a lifelong member of the church. As a kid I grew up going to church every week and continued to do so as a teenager. When my parents were going through divorce I was surrounded with peers and church teachers with strong testimonies that were a powerful example to me. I know that the church is the church of God because of reading the Book of Mormon. I started reading the book when I was 16 and came upon powerful passages that have helped me to confirm the belief that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that He died for me and was resurrected. Reading the Book of Mormon has helped strengthen my testimony that the church that Christ organized with apostles and prophets 2000 years ago has been restored and that we are blessed to live with apostles and prophets today. I had the blessing of sharing this message for two years as a full time missionary in Argentina. I have been amazed to see the blessings that have come to the lives of others as they have also taken the challenge to read the Book of Mormon and take its challenge to ask Heavenly Father in prayer if it is truly written by prophets of God. I have seen both in my life and in theirs the blessings of peace and comfort in knowing that God loves us and that He can help us overcome both our imperfections and our struggles in this life. I love knowing that families can and ought to be together forever through God's plan, and His gospel. I love my family, and I know that I want to be with them for more than this life. And I know that because of Christ and his atonement that this is possible.

How I live my faith

I currently live in a student ward with many active members who are also going to school. I work with other members of my ward to go and visit those who are newer to our ward or haven't been coming to church very frequently. I love being able to go and visit my neighbors and look out for their well being as well as offer service where needed. Where appropriate I will share a message about Christ and His gospel during visits, which is what I love most about going to visit and assist others. Sharing my testimony of my Savior and His teachings always has brought blessings to my life and the lives of those around me.
