Hi I'm Alex Ortega

Hi I am Mormon of 38 years now and very grateful for the missionaries that found my family and I. Happily married for 30 years.

About Me

Hi I am Alex the oldest of 3 children. Originally from Lima Peru and came to the US when I was 9 years old. Joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in May of 1976 with my family of 5 in Los Angeles California. Moved to Utah in August of 1979, lived in Bountiful and graduated from Bountiful High in 1980. Left to serve an LDS mission to Columbus Ohio in September of 1980 for two years a great experience which I will forever cherish. Married my best friend in November 2nd of 1984. I now have five children, two great sons in law, a wonderful daughter in law, and two wonderful grand children. I work as a computer tech for the Jordan School District and enjoy living my life as Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was taught by two Mormon missionaries 38 years ago when I was 15 years old. Each time they taught a lesson they challenged my family and I to pray about it and find out for ourselves if it is true. I took that challenge to heart and one night I received an answer to my prayer; the Holy Ghost bore witness to my heart through a warm feeling that spread throughout my whole body. On the next visit from the missionaries I told them I was ready for baptism. Becoming a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the best decision of my life. I look back now on the 38 wonderful years of being a Mormon and I challenge you to pray to God who is the source of all truth and see if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is his church here on earth.

How I live my faith

Prayer has helped me develop a relationship with Our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ who is our mediator and savior. Living the commandments and reading the scriptures has brought happiness, love, and blessings in my live. I have no doubt God answers prayers and knows each one us individually and has a wonderful plan for us here on earth. This knowledge helps me live with hope and faith daily.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Alex Ortega
Sincere prayer to Him is important. Start by addressing him as Heavenly Father or Father in Heaven, next thank him for some of the of the things you are grateful for, your family, friends, job etc... then ask him of some of your concerns or his reality and close in the name of Jesus Christ because he is our mediator to the Our Heavenly Father. Another way to get to know God is the Bible which is a history of his children here on earth and how God communicated to them through prophets who were his mouth piece here on earth. God gave commandments for all of us to follow and by being obedient to them we receive blessings. The New Testament is about the life Jesus Christ his son who came to earth to witness of Our Heavenly Father and die for all our sins and to give us all the ability to live after we die. God does answer prayers and I know he will answer yours because you are a child of God. Show more Show less
