Hi I'm Monica Mena

I grew up in Massachusetts, El Salvador, and North Carolina. I love to sing and to be with my family. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm sophomore in college. I have put off going to school for a while as I will be serving a mission in August 2014 for a year and a half.n I was part-time babysitting and I really enjoy children. An important thing I have learned from children is that they always love and have faith. I realize that is why the savior compares them to us. I also love anything beauty: makeup artistry. I love to help people look good. As a kid I would watch videos and would consume myself with knowledge of makeup. I like to keep it as a hobby but I would love for one day to learn enough to do it professionally and work in a place like M.A.C. I had to learn as a kid because my mother was incarcerated and I couldn't learn it from her. It was one of the toughest things I had to endure. It was super hard trying to be a normal girl without my mother, I was always depressed because I did not my own show me how to be a girl, I envied girls with their mothers. I was baptized into the church four months after my mother was incarcerated. I found something so incredible from the beginning: "The Missionaries." They really took care of us and always made sure we were alright, the missionaries were our angels in disguise. I now know what devotion they really had. I found family in my Spanish branch and ever since I have been blessed with many mothers that always wanted to help me! Even though not my own mother the Lord gave me just what I needed.

Why I am a Mormon

I belong to The church Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it has shown me the true meaning of life. Everything that has been taught to me has added to my knowledge for the plan that my Father in heaven wants for me. I am a member because of all of the LOVE I found from my leaders and my fellow brothers and sisters, which is like part of the kingdom of God here in the earth. I am member because I prayed about it and found out it is really true. I learned that even though imperfect I am someone very special to the Father and Jesus. I am of eternal worth because I am a woman and a daughter of God. I am serving a mission because this is the most true and most real church that I had always wanted to be part of. I am glad to be Mormon. I love it and I live it everyday of my life. :)

How I live my faith

I am a teacher for my relief society class. Relief society is a women's organization that is set up to help out in the community. We look for opportunities to serve each other as we are sisters. I teach my class the principles and ideas that might help them grow in their daily lives which usually come from the scriptures or words of the living Prophet. I have learned so much from my fellow Sisters, the help and influence they have made in me is amazing and priceless. I will also be serving a mission in Utah in August 2014 for a year and a half. I am full of joy to be teaching and growing with the gospel anywhere I go.
