Hi I'm Megan

I'm a mother. I love road trips. I play the piano. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Each day I get to be a nurse, teacher, librarian, secretary, chef, chauffer, cheerleader, family historian, photographer, leader, coach, singer, and cleaner - just like millions of other mothers all over the world. I love my job! I've been married to my incredibly smart, hard working, and loving husband since 2005. I majored in piano performance and I teach my two oldest boys. I love to use music to bring people together. I lived in Ohio for 6 years, and during that time came to really know myself, the joy of motherhood and family, and met many wonderful friends. My husband and I (and each child as they came) have been to all the 48 contiguous United States together! Our van has traveled from the tip of Maine, to south Florida, to San Diego, to Seattle. It's been a grand and beautiful adventure.

Why I am a Mormon

I truly believe there is so much goodness in the world. There are many religions that do amazing things, and help people come to Jesus Christ. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I asked God to tell me if this is a church that is truly led by His Son, Jesus Christ. That answer was given to me. It is true. This church was restored - meaning, it isn't a "new" church - and I know that it was something that was prophesied would come to pass. I choose to be a part of this church because I have "experimented upon the word" and combined with prayer, have found that living the teachings of Christ through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have brought me countless blessings and eternal joy. I know that all those who worship Jesus Christ will be blessed, but this church just adds to the testimony and truths that are already there throughout the world. I love God the Father - he is my true friend and confidant and I'm so grateful for the gift of prayer while we are here on earth. I have definitely had questions whether big or small, but I always "ask of God" and the answer is given to me freely. There are some things in Church history that I have always had questions about, but I continue to marvel that these normal, humble men were able to bring forth the church under direction from the Lord. Joseph Smith himself said he was a "rough stone rolling." I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and I know we have a prophet on the earth today - for all the world, not just for members of this church. It is incredible! Families are eternal. I'm grateful for the priesthood and the power that can seal us together in temples of God. I'm thankful for the covenants we make there. Those blessings of those covenants come daily!

How I live my faith

I have a musical background, and I'm able to help our congregation by choosing hymns, organizing special musical numbers that will add to the spirit of the meetings, and to be a part of the choir. I'm also a visiting teacher and although it is hard to plan around families' busy lives, it is such a blessing to get to know other amazing women in all stages of life. I get to visit those I teach about once a month to create true friendships and establish trust and love. Each person has something to share, that they need to share - and that has blessed my life! Worship is a daily part of our family routine. We have prayer as a couple in the morning, and family prayers morning and night. Personal prayers may be said throughout the day, and our children pray morning and night. We enjoy having the older children help our youngest with prayers. We read scriptures together daily, it's a wonderful blessing for all of us, and our children understand so much of it! We pray over meals. We fast for 24 hours each month for those people or things that need special blessings from God. We have family home evening each Monday - a time for us to have a spiritual lesson and just to spend quality time together. We do all these things to come closer to God and Jesus Christ and so that we may be an eternal family - and it brings us so much joy! My faith is my life.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph was a humble and simple man. He did not proclaim to be the leader of the Church - it has always been Jesus Christ. He gave his entire life, after seeing God and Jesus Christ, to restoring truth to the earth. He was a prophet. He translated the Book of Mormon to English. He was called of God. Show more Show less
